I thought I had lucked out when I found that "tool" in the help menu...
Goes to show you that what appears too good to be true probably is.
I agree, they should take it out of the help menu if it does not exist.

For a short while there was a conversion tool built into Legacy. It was
wonderful. It made my life very, very nice. Unfortunately, it was soon
removed in an update; far, far before I could **easily** convert all my
sources. One must strike while the iron is hot

Jim,
To my knowledge, the Source Writer Conversion Tool, has never been released. I
will agree with Ron Ferguson that it should be removed from the help files to
eliminate confusion, however, I will even go a step further and say (In my
opinion) there are just too many variables for a Source Wr

You're not missing anything - or rather, you're missing what we all are!
The promised SourceWriter Conversion Tool apparently turned out to be
rather more difficult to produce than was anticipated so it hasn't
actually materialised yet.
There are 2 "do-it-you
Jim,
You are missing the Source Writer Conversion Tool, probably because it has
never been written, certainly it has never been released. In my view it really
should be removed from the Help Files.

Rick:
Absolutely not; don't start a new file. Just go to Family View, click on the
child's name to bring him/her into the center set of boxes, and add the spouse
and children.

I need help, I have what I think is a simple question; however I cannot find
the answer. I am puzzled, so I think I am missing something obvious.

I use township only for individuals who lived in rural areas, and then I use it
in place of the town/city. So I would enter:
Colfax Twp., Harrison Co., Missouri
As Kirsten mentioned, since I use the right to left sort on my locations list,
this allows my place list to read, for example:

Jerry,
I enter a Township in place of the city/town place name -- I don't include both
