My guess would be that you have unused/unlinked items in your master lists. Those won't get exported in a GEDCOM. For Surnames, if you add an individual and mistype his surname, that gets added to the master list. When you go back and correct it on the individual, the corrected version gets a

Thanks, Kurt, that was part of it. It improved some of the numbers, but not all. Even when I did an export to a new Legacy file, the numbers were different. It's just baffling why things like the number of unique surnames, master locations, master sources, and repositories would be different. G
