Is there anyone in the group who has installed and is using Legacy on a
Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8 – full version, NOT RT?
I’m considering the purchase of this tablet/netbook but it is expensive and I
want to be quite sure I can happily install Legacy without having to use the
Google Earth easily gives you the Lat. & Long. for any address,with no
conversion needed.
Search for the address in Google Earth.
Click on the Pin Icon at upper left of the bar.
A New Placemark box opens, showing Lat. & Long. in the format:
55°56'54.05"N and 3°11'53.23"W
Copy each string into th

I have worked with the Surface RT and taught a class on it.
The Surface RT is an ARM based chip and it will NOT run normal Windows
programs.
The Surface RT Windows 8 machine has and runs Windows 8. The normal
software running on Windows 7 should run just fine on the Surface Windows 8
tablet. I a

Legacy will not run on the Surface RT. It should (I do not know positively)
run on the Surface Pro. Surface RT runs a tablet version of Windows 8.
Surface Pro runs a full version of Windows 8.

One question, and one detail to point out:
You mentioned clicking the ‘Verified’ box on the Address popup. I did my first
attempt at practicing this, I went in through Burial Address ( + next to Buried
“Date field” In “City/County/State/Country” field),
Legacy uses degree, minute, seconds for coordinates. The only
non-standard thing is that we do not divide the parts with a space.
Latitude is entered as ddmmss. longitude is dddmmss.sss note there
are three degree digits in longitude because that can vary from 000 to
180. latitude only goes fro

Support - where is it and how do we get it? RM is advertising on my
Facebook that they are the only FamilyTree certified program.

advertised there and, if you have the deluxe version, you can update
directly from the Legacy Home Tab. Standard Edition users have to go to
our web page to download the update.

MS Surface RT WILL NOT run normal windows applications -- It WILL NOT run
Legacy Family Tree software.
Windows Surface Pro WILL run normal windows software. It WILL run Legacy Family
Tree software.

Two comments - Dave, that's true that you can't open the Family File
in an earlier build or version once it's been converted, but if you
really need to, you *can* create a gedcom in the most recent build and
import it into the earlier one.

So not even Google is consistent. Google Earth uses dms google maps use
decimal degrees.
If you have Decimal Coordinates Legacy contains the tool to convert a
decimal degree to our dms.

At the bottom of the Event/Fact Definition screen is a list of all the
Variables. It includes [Address]
If you want to always have the "Event Address" appear, you can change the
"Event Sentence Definition" itself. Then you will never need to use "Event
Sentence Override".

I am adding a census record and I just copied the event to the clipboard. I
tried to paste it to another person and I got Run-time error 2031 No current
record. This error number isn't on the list. When I click okay, it
automatically shuts Legacy down. I tried doing a check/repair. I recopied
I read it wrong. It was error 3021 which is on the list. Nevermind. I will
do what it says.

I had an error 3021. I did exactly what it said to do. I redownloaded the
last update. I reset the temp folder. I did a check/repair. That didn't
work so I exported the file to a new Legacy file. That didn't work. Both
the old file and the new file I created both do this error.
