Still now I have not succeeded in my attempt, but in the process I am
progressing day by day.
As on date (26-01-2005) , I am now installing the kernel (chapter 8.3).
Hope it will proceed
Hi,
From the Stable LFS Errata:
Compiling gcc-3.4.3 while running a 2.6.12 or later kernel will result in
testsuite failures due to a new kernel feature. Use the patch located
here...
I'm new to LFS (though not new to LFS, see introduction yesterday). I'm
currently preparing my build host.

Hi,
I just got my build and LFS environment OK. For the moment I try to keep things
simple, so there's one big /dev/hda6 partition formatted in ext2. I put $LFS in
.bashrc so that it is always set. (Whenever I have some spare time, I reboot on
my LFS partition and work on it for a bit.)

Question: what shall I put in place of the asterisks?

to test for the loopback device within the kernel, do:
cat /boot/config-[YOUR KERNEL CONFIG FILE] | grep CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP
should give you
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP=y
if not, compile a new kernel, with loopback enabled
