Hi list
Sorry for another Flash question but you helped faster than the Flash forums
so I'm back!
I'm having problems embedding the Tahoma font into Dynamic text boxes in
Flash 8 Pro. No matter what I do, the following characters do not display:
B D G H J K N P R U V W X Z
z
?
I'm only
Thanks for the link Colin.
All I'm doing to embed the characters is click the embed button and
selecting the various list items for the characters I need! I even tried
embedding everything (all 34000+ glyphs) just to make sure and it still
didn't work.
It's rather odd I must say...

Hi Cath
This happens with both auto kerning on and off. I think it might just be the
one machine as I've had no problems doing this at home.
Let's see if a project saved at home will be OK at work...
Thanks all
Ross
Hi Cath
Thanks for the input but the problem lies with the parent MovieClip hogging
the mouse events for itself and not allowing any child elements to interact,
so my button symbols never have an onRelease event fire regardless of where
any onRelease script has been assigned.
I've sorted it
Hi Colin Grimmwerks
I woke this rainy Saturday morning and thought the same thing about doing a
hittest onEnterFrame so nice to know I am capable of thinking Flash (Director's
always been my strong point).
I also like the idea of adding a mouse event listener, but that's going to be a

I thought this was a Director FAQ, not a Google Toolbar FAQ...and why the

Add that to my MX2007 wishlist alongside UTF support.

Hi Michael
You can write a function to populate a list with member names for the sounds
you want in a specific cast. You can then use that list as the #range inside

This is based on something similar I did ages ago to get #field

As above, I'm getting this problem on Windows XP, although I've _never_ been

Hi Daniel
Thanks for your info
Yes, I've used the same version of Director to build the projector exe and
supply the DLLs. I agree I've never had a problem building fast start

Hi Chris
I thought it could be an issue with user restrictions but there's no
extracting required it just runs from the CD so I have no idea.
Hi Daniel
Going back to 10.1.0.11 isn't really an issue as I've used Flash 8 features
so I need the Flash 8 Asset.

Hi List
Another issue related to my previous mammoth message is that gotoNetPage()
isn't reliable. Once in a blue moon the code will run successfully but no
browser window will actually open.
Any ideas as to what can cause this? Is there a more reliable way of opening

Hi Valentin
I've just noticed that all the colons were missing - thought I'd replaced
them after the various case statements but I guess I missed a few.

Good start so far it's moving me in the right direction. A clarification

Using this 3-column approach Dave suggested, having the word as the unique

Hi List
I have a feeling this is a real newbie question but here goes.
I'm downloading the contents of an XML file from a site using getNetText()
then passing it into the XML Parser using parseString (I'm not using
parseURL for a few reasons).
The trouble I'm having is that I can't clear

Hi Carl
I'm not sure if this is much help but I've got a few music albums with
PC-specific CD-ROM content on them. The CD-ROM side of the disc contains
the usual autorun.inf setup to trigger autorun and on my systems and the
office lot this does override automatically playing the audio parts.

I'm just talking from personal experience. On a few occassions I've tried to

Biju george:
However interesting this topic may be, and certainly it's got me thinking
about ways I can protect my projects, are you absolutely sure what you are
doing is actually warranted or even allowed?
You've said that you don't want your client making illegal copies of the
disc, but
Actually i want the client to see the demo only, I
want to prevent him from making its illegal copies and
distribute to any 3rd parties by replicating the CD.
Well if this is all you want to do why don't you create a demo only version,
such as putting a great big splash screen at the beginning
This is based on what?
I don't claim to be making factual statements based on anything - this is
merely me expressing an opinion I have formulated from both mine and the
Director communiy's increasing disappointment at the lacklustre releases of
Director these past versions. Just feels to me
Carl:
Just as idea, try switching your burn process around. Create a disc image of
your audio and burn that first, leaving the disc open. Resume the session
with your hybrid disc image then close the disc. I've always found that
burning audio first is easier.
Just a thought.

If I understand you correctly, you're going to be installing QT6 on a

So what exactly is quickTimeVersion() returning when detecting QT4? And out

why have you approached your logic as you have done? Just curious.

Hi John
I've not got access to a QT4 install to see if anything untoward is being
returned by quickTimeVersion(), but given a basic logic test like this
quickTimeVersion() is gotta be returning something truly bizarre to mess up
the logic.
See what quickTimeVersion() serves up with QT4
