in X:\Users\xxx\AppData\Temp\. I don't remember the exact filename. It is

Maybe a clumsy work around but couldn't one do this in LyX? Splitting up the
original pdf into single pages (I use CombinePDF) and setting those pages as
background images in your LyX document? Could you then add header, footer,
pagenumbers on top of the page images?

The system is vista. After installing lyx, a temporary folder was generated
in X:\Users\xxx\AppData\Temp\. I don't remember the exact filename. It is
like "nxxxaxx.tmp". I tried intalling 1.6.0 RC2, the temporary folder was
generated again, only the filename was different. However in
