If this is really important to you, you might take a look at GNU-TeXMacs.
This is (close to) WYSIWYG. The downside is that I'm not clear that you
have access to all the myriad latex packages you can use with Lyx - at
least not without some hacking.

you install all its fonts, too? Otherwise try adding to the end of
fontmap.gs some lines like
/Courier (c:/windows/fonts/cour.ttf)
(other courier lines similar).

One thought: did you by any chance install aspell.exe into your lyx
directory (or perhaps into your path)? Ruurd's distribution contains only
aspell.dll and he writes the aspell executable is useless for LyX.

Does anyone know if Ruurd --- or anyone else --- intends to keep the win32
standalone binary releases of Lyx-QT up-to-date? I realize that it's a
relatively short time since 1.3.3 emerged, but still, it would be nice to
know that an update is planned, if it is.

For me, the disappointment was that the placement of big operators like
\sum and \int hasn't been fixed (can anyone confirm this?). Presumably this
is because Ruurd is still using the same edition of Qt, and it's a Qt, not
really a lyx, problem.
