From what I've heard tethering is a feature supported or not by the carrier, not a limitation of the iphone. In the US ATT is the only carrier and they do not allow tethering. That said there are iphone apps (for now) which allow you to share your iphone data connection out as a wifi hot

I'm told that the date format is affected by the regional settings, so if you're a north American and change to UK (perhaps Oz as well?), you'll get European date format, i.e. day/month/year. I actually prefer this, so no big deal to me.
