Songs view is what iTunes now calls the tabular layout. Despite its aggravations, I find it to be the least annoying mode to work with, for all the usual reasons tables are awesome. Just tell iTunes to use list views by default in preferences, and sort using whatever columns you need. Shame

If the OP's problem is what I think, then your "mail busy" problem can't be related. Crash strings kill VO dead, necessitating a restart of the whole computer. When Mail goes busy, or when Safari's Reader view does so for me, toggling VO fixes it. When VO is crashed by a malicious string of
