I suspect that you are restricted to Apple device dropping to another Apple
device, both with AirDrop enabled.

dock.. I played around a little with my BigSir system, and I think the process
might be fairly similar.
If you are sending via airdrop, find the share in the toolbar or menus and then

messages. Your Airdrop does have to be discoverable by anyone, and whoever you
might want to share files with also has to have that same setting. When you
choose Airdrop from the Share option, anyone who has Airdrop
air drop messages to anyone (let’s say) you were in a room of strangers and you
wanted to send something to one of them. Can you only airdrop to IOS and OS
users? How do you know that someone can Airdrop?

air drop. you need to enable bluetooth on your devices and I think
you'll need to be on the same wireless network, not sure

I have a mac mini mid 2011 and it does not work there unless i install the
continuity activation tool.

That's an OS X bug, or perhaps a poorly implemented feature. What you have to
do is find and interact with the table of Airdrop targets. Find the row showing
your phone, interact, route the mouse there with v-cmd-f5, then click the mouse
or hit vo-shift-space to simulate a click.

I had problems with airdrop on my mid 2011 to my ios devices.
But i found something called continuity activation tool and that solved the

We have two Macbook Airs on the same network, both capable of using Airdrop,
both on Yosemite, both with Airdrop sharing set to everyone. My Air cannot
see the other Mac, but the other one can see mine just fine. Put another way,
on my Mac, my Airdrop window is empty so I can't send
either. Now someone mentioned
on the list a couple days back that in order for Airdrop to work between a Mac
and an iDevice, Bluetooth low energy has to be supported, which isn’t the case
on my Mac. Check what your machine reports about these things.

As to supported Macs, Google has tons of lists that will tell you if your

Its quite frustrating that airdrop does not work together with my mac and

2010 from what i understand.
My is from mid 2011.

Remember that you must have an Airdrop window open on the Mac or the iPad won't
see it. Plus, there are a few 2011 Macs that lack the necessary bluetooth
hardware, but I don't recall which ones they are.
