iCloud Mail Filters

2023-07-08 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
Apple must have changed things here on iCloud.com. I need to access
the mail filters to add a new one. Where can I find them? Thanks.

RE: iCloud Mail Server Settings

2023-05-17 Thread Brent Harding
Yeah, for better or worse, the control panel for Windows stinks for
accessibility lately, and it won't re-authorize since I upgraded to the new Win
10 version outside of the ones from the bootcamp drivers that were an older
version. I thought about using iCloud to host my mail for my domain, but maybe
I don't want phone notifications for all this list traffic, or for it to be
stored in my phone.

question about iCloud mail?

2021-11-08 Thread maurice mines
Good afternoon everyone, I have a strange situation. I am of course
writing this on my MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020. But because of a additional
disability, a written expression disorder. I have to dictate everything
I write into Windows. This presents a problem. If I want to read, and/or
respond to anything in my iCloud mail and its email address variance, I
must write the document in word for instance and then copy it into the
email that I've started on the Mac side of my computer. So the question
is simply this, if I download iCloud for Windows will that allow me
access to my email account in something other than Microsoft outlook for
Windows. Has anyone had experience with this? Or should I continue doing
this the way that I am doing it presently. Which is quite cumbersome.
Any thoughts?

Just be aware that I am dictating this to the computer using dictation
software. Although every effort has been made to weed out errors. There
is no way to make dictation be 100% correct. So if there's something
written about that you really didn't understand please reach out to me
and asked me what you thought I might've meant I will be happy to help
clear up any misunderstandings that may arise from the dictated text
thank you very much for reading this.

Re: icloud Mail

2018-04-17 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Maria,

the only thing I can think about is that when I was setting up Thunderbird
email on Windows 10, I had to generate app specific password in my icloud
account in my account section of icloud. Remember to keep a copy of it. I’m
not sure if it’s going to answer your question.

Good luck

Hi, where would I get that? I added the account through mail for Windows with
it’s own app specific password. As of right now I’m stuck with a Windows

Where did you add the iCloud mail account? Did you do it directly and windows
mail or through iCloud for windows? I would highly suggest using iCloud for
windows, if that’s even still available. I don’t use windows so I really don’t
know, but that would seem the best thing to try.

icloud Mail

2018-04-16 Thread Maria Reyes
Hi all,
I posted this earlier, but I didn’t see any replies or I just missed them, but
I’m trying to use iCloud Mail on my windows 10 laptop using the built in mail
app. I have the account with an app specific password, however, when I try to
send messages, they won’t send. I get an error email. I do have the address
correct. Is there something I need to enable in my settings?

2017-07-29 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

• Open Safari on your iOS device.
• enter iCloud.com in the address field.

You'll note the "Setup iCloud on this device" etc stuff that doesn't let you do
anything that you are hoping to do.

• navigate to the bottom of the screen and double-tap on the Share button.
• swipe until you locate the "Request Desktop Site" button and double-tap on it.

You should be good to go from there.

HTH.

Re: Problem with iCloud mail on iMac

2017-01-30 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

The Status area is listed just after the "Enable this Account" checkbox. At
least in my Mail Prefs. So, when moving with VO-right going from the list of
accounts, then the three tabs for Account Info, MailBox Behaviours etc, then
Enable this Account, then the heading for Status, which should be followed with
On-Line and Available. Continuing right, there should be the Description and
its accompanying field then eMail with the pop-up of aliases.

I just remembered that you're in El Capitan and I'm in Sierra, so it's possible
that the Mail Prefs have a slightly different look. I can't remember for sure.
If you wish, I can locate an El Capitan machine to confirm and see if the
comparable layout in El Capitan.

Re: Problem with iCloud mail on iMac

2017-01-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

On the iMac, in System Preferences, in Internet Accounts:

1. Select your iCloud account from the table.
2. Is Mail one of the services checked?

Also, in Mail Prefs, under the Accounts tab:

1. Make sure "Enable this Account" is checked.
2. In the Status area, does it read On-Line and Available?
3. Under the eMail pop-up, does it have all your aliases listed?

There's nothing particularly fancy that you need to do when setting up iCloud
iMap accounts, it's very painless and rather automatic as long as you enter the
right credentials. If worse comes to worse, you can disable the Mail service
part of your iCloud account from within Internet Accounts or from within the
iCloud pane of System Prefs. Disabling it should not cause you to lose
anything as the messages and such should be stored in iCloud itself. Close
System Prefs, then go back into System Prefs and re-e-enable it once again.
See if they start populating again.

I am unclear on how to set up Apple mail on my iMac to receive Emails from both

Are there any known problems in this area?

Problem with iCloud mail on iMac

2017-01-28 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running the latest El Capitan on my late 2008 iMac and use Apple mail.

i have iCloud set up for Email with 2 aliases. I can send emails from a gmail
address to either of these aliases and can receive them OK on my iPhone .
However I am not receiving Emails to either alias on my iMac. A few weeks ago I
only had a single iCloud mail alias and could receive emails sent to that
address on my iMac. I can receive and send emails from my gmail address using
my iMac.

I am unclear on how to set up Apple mail on my iMac to receive Emails from both
iCloud aliases. My Email accounts list has an entry for the original first
iCloud mail and as far as I can see that all looks good. For some reason my
iMac will not let me add a new Email account for the second iCloud mail alias.

Are there any known problems in this area?

Many thanks.

Aliases in iCloud mail

2016-12-21 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
Many thanks to those who replied to my last week post on the above topic. Using
VoiceOver on my iMac I can now add up to 3 aliases to my iCloud mail account.
All aliases have to b eEmail addresses which end in @icloud.com and can start
with anything which is not already taken by someone else. So I can set up an
alias such as paulshop...@icloud.com to both receive and send Emails (assuming
that paulshopper is not already taken by someone else). Alas I cannot use
aliases to send and receive Email from hopew...@hopewell.org.uk.

I had terrible trouble with 2 factor authentication while doing the above and
in the end had to turn off 2 factor authentication and instead rely on my
appleid password and security questions for protection. The 2 factor
authentication sent an authorisation code to my iPhone as expected but if I was
a bit slow timed out before I could enter that code onto my iMac. that resulted
in my entering some obsolete authentication codes which resulted in my being
locked out of my appleid account for several hours. 2 factor authentication is
not a great idea for VoiceOver users.

A complication is that I have set up 2 factor authentication on my iCloud

Has anyone added an iCloud mail alias using VoiceOver?

RE: iCloud mail and Email address

2016-11-30 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Paul,

I understand your goal.

At first glance, I can suggest 2 options:

1.
Change your Apple ID to your desired email address, assuming it has not already
been taken.

2.
And this is what I have done on many occasions, continue to use your gMail
account SMPT server while using your iCloud account's Incoming server.

In this way, assuming you are using a client such as Apple Mail, MS Outlook,
iOS Mail, you can customize the return email setting in the SMPT area and
receive all of your mail to your iCloud account.

I suggest this because I am not certain if iCloud will allow you to use a
customized, non-iCloud email address. It may be possible, but I've never done
it.

This is definitely the kind of thing that is best handled by advanced users.

There are other solutions but they go far beyond the scope of this forum.

Good Luck,

Mark

Re: iCloud Mail Filters

2016-04-21 Thread E.T.
Thanks. The one mailing list I want on my iDevices is now set up and
working. I sent a test message from Windows and closed the mail client
due to IMAP so wanted a valid test.

Other mailing lists like this one will only go to the Mac so will do
filters from there. Plan is to stop using Windows. I did some filters in
Yosemite so expect it will not be hard to do again. This is near the end
of my agenda so almost done!

2014-10-10 Thread Christopher Hallsworth

Hi all

If you do not have two step verification enabled on your Apple ID, you
can safely ignore this message. If you do, I have a note for you. The
below took effect as of today.

If you use third party clients such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla
Thunderbird to manage your iCloud Mail account, you must now generate an
app specific password before you can use it again. Previously it was
possible to use your Apple ID password to log into iCloud Mail even if
you have two step verification enabled. For good reasons of course this
now no longer works and instead you must do the above. To do so, go to

http://appleid.apple.com
sign in with your Apple ID, verify your identity, click the passwords
and security tab then click generate app specific password link.

Thank you for reading.

icloud mail questions

2014-08-20 Thread don bishop
I have my own domain and use mail forwarding through my sbcglobal account. I
seem to be loosing messages with sbcglobal which is a part of att. So, I'm
considering setting up an icloud account on the mac and iphone. I'm wondering
if there are any limitations on message size or attachment size.

Also, does icloud filter out any messages?
Anything I should be aware of before committing my mail to an icloud account?

Thanks,

Don

Hi there
If I remember right, there is a 5 MB limit on iCloud storage, unless you buy
more. However, having said that, I have yet to run into any limitations when
using iCloud on this list. Also, I have found it easier to manage this list
using iCloud.c this is because of syncing with your computer and with your eye

I believe it's actually 5GB, which is a non-trivial amount of mail.
Upgrading from the free level gets you 10, 20 or 50GB.

Hi,

From within the Mail app, you can go into Preferences, select the Rules tab
and block them from there. Similarly, if you want them blocked from all your
devices using that same iCloud account, you'll need to set the rule from
within the Mail Preferences of your iCloud account on the Net.

iCloud mail

2014-07-06 Thread Christopher Hallsworth

Hi all
I might consider unsubscribing here from this address and subscribing
via my iCloud email address. I have it but never used it other than when
I purchase my own credit for iTunes to which I tell them to send it to
my iCloud account. At least with iCloud email set up is automatic and
instantaneous, no need to remember credentials, settings or anything. It
just works. I may also consider unsubscribing related mailing lists like
viphone and subscribing to these from my iCloud email account. Thanks
for the possible motivation very much appreciated.

Re: iCloud mail

2014-07-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Chris,

You do not need to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to change eMail addresses for a
Google Groups subscription. Simply add your iCloud address to your Gmail
account, then modify your settings for the MacVisionaries list on the
MacVisionaries settings page that is linked at the bottom of most messages sent
to you through this list. Google's pages are certainly not perfect but very
manageable with Safari when using a combination of the tab key, arrow keys and
the return key.

How to read iCloud mail

2014-02-10 Thread Agent086b

is it possible to read iCloud mail on an iPhone through Safari? When I log in

On the Mac I can just go to that site and read the mail.
Hope that is clear what I am trying to achieve. Thanks for any help.

Re: switching from gMail to iCloud mail

2014-02-04 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

The iCloud Mail service uses iMap as well and therefore is totally syncable
across all your Apple devices. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Apple prides
themselves on most of their services being totally usable across all their
devices. With respect to being charged for Mail, I've never heard anything
even remotely close to that as a potential option with their iCloud Mail
service. Like Google, it's your other storage data that is in the realms of
chargeable.

Re: switching from gMail to iCloud mail

2014-02-04 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Make sure that when you create the Mailbox, it is placed inside or below the
iCloud account. When in the Mail app on your iDevice, double-tap on the iCloud
InBox under the Accounts section, then double-tap the Edit button and then
double-tap on the New Mailbox button down at the bottom of the list.
Similarly, on your Mac, when you create the new Mailbox, make sure that the
parent is the iCloud account. These mailboxes will sync across devices.

Thanks much, Tim. It didn't occur to me to try this.

As for rules, would you have to move messages manually on an iDevice if you
have rules set up on the computer? I currently have 15 filters set up on Gmail,
and I get over 1000 messages a day.

Hi,

If the rule is set up on the iCloud site, then it will be done on everything.
If you set them up on your Mac, as long as the Mac gets the messages before you
check them on the iDevice, then they will be moved by the Mac and consequently
where you want them on the iDevice. I believe that someone else explained how

Thanks much, Tim. It didn't occur to me to try this.

As for rules, would you have to move messages manually on an iDevice if you
have rules set up on the computer? I currently have 15 filters set up on
Gmail, and I get over 1000 messages a day.

 Hi,

Make sure that when you create the Mailbox, it is placed inside or below
the iCloud account. When in the Mail app on your iDevice, double-tap on
the iCloud InBox under the Accounts section, then double-tap the Edit
button and then double-tap on the New Mailbox button down at the bottom of
the list. Similarly, on your Mac, when you create the new Mailbox, make
sure that the parent is the iCloud account. These mailboxes will sync
 across devices.

Thanks, Tim. How would one go about making sure that mailboxes created for
mailing lists are available on an iDevice?

 Hi,

The iCloud Mail service uses iMap as well and therefore is totally
syncable across all your Apple devices. In fact, I'm pretty sure that
Apple prides themselves on most of their services being totally usable
across all their devices. With respect to being charged for Mail, I've
never heard anything even remotely close to that as a potential option
with their iCloud Mail service. Like Google, it's your other storage
data that is in the realms of chargeable.

The only reason I've hesitated about switching is that I've had the
ability on gmail to manage my folders across devices. I get email from
ten mailing lists, and I definitely do not want all those messages in my
inbox. If you set up local rules on the Mac, does iCloud sync them to
 iOS?

Has anyone jumped ship and gone from gMail to iCloud mail?

Setting date time for iCloud mail

2014-01-28 Thread Agent086b
Hello,
is it possible to change the date time on iCloud? If we send email from an
iCloud address it shows U S date time. As I am on the other side of the world
I would like to show my time here.
Thanks for any advice.

Two iCloud Mail questions

2012-01-12 Thread David Hole
Hi folks.
Can anyone here tell me (if it's possible):
1. How can I import mail sent to my new me.com account to my gmail?
As far as I can see, the issue is that Apple have only IMAP support,
and not POP. Am I right?
2. Can I log in to any of my Apple services using my me.com adress
that I made when I got my iCloud acount?
When I created my me.com mail adress, I wasn't asked for any password.

Hope someone knows...
-David
