[MlMt] limit the oldest message to be kept locally?
hey there, i use MM in three different computers, office, home and laptop. in the laptop i’d like to limit the amount of space used by defining that, say, only messages 2 years back in time should be kept locally. i’m *almost* sure i’ve seen this option somewhere in time, as a hidden preference? but i didn’t find it in the online manual for hidden preferences. was I dreaming? p.___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate

This is one of them: GMail "corrects" the From header and envelope sender address to match the authenticated sender. ISTR there is or was some way to add addresses (with a confirmation cycle) that would pass in the From header for an account, but the envelope sender would still be "corrected." Since the advent of DMARC, I would expect that feature to be gone (since DMARC deals with headers, not the envelope.) ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate
[MlMt] The lousy Counters UI (was Re: sound notifications in Sierra)

This has been noted about a dozen times on this list in the past. I think Benny has agreed, but it really isn't obvious what else to do without proliferating Preference panes. A slight improvement would be to have the MM icon in the middle of the 4 radio buttons, so at least there's a stronger visual clue as to their function. ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate

I use Version 1.9.5 (5263) on OSX 10.11.6. [Note: the names/labels of various commands and UI components used below are the English ones. If you are using a French localization of MailMate you will need to translate them, as your command of English is clearly MUCH better than my trivial knowledge of French] I'm not certain what the source of the problem is, but there are 3 things that I can think of that could cause this: 1. The "archive" folder is not synchronized on your work machine. You can either find it in the folder hierarchy of the IMAP account in the Sources section of the MailMate mailbox list and synchronize it specifically (in the contextual menu or under the regular Mailbox menu) or use the menu File->Synchronize->All Sources to synchronize everything. If it fails to get synchronized regularly, the root cause could be that it is be set to synchronize only manually, which you can fix by selecting it and using the "Synchronization Schedule" submenu of the Mailbox or contextual menu. 2. The "archive" folder is not understood by MailMate on your work machine to be THE Archive folder (a single special-purpose folder) for that account, and you are looking at the Archive->AccountName folder in the Mailboxes section of MailMate's mailbox list, which is some other folder in that account. To tell MailMate that a specific IMAP folder should be treated as one of the 5 special-purpose folders recognized by MailMate, select the folder in the Sources section of the mailbox list and use the Mailbox Type submenu of the contextual or Mailbox menu. 3. You are not subscribed to the "archive" folder on your work machine. Select the account in the Sources section of the MailMate mailbox list and use the "Edit IMAP Account" option from the contextual or Mailbox menu to open the IMAP Account Settings window. In the center section of that window there is an "Edit Subscriptions..." button that opens a panel listing all of the folders in the IMAP account and their subscription states, both in the server's subscription list and in MailMate's own internal list that governs which folders you actually see (and which get synchronized) in the Sources section of the MailMate mailbox list. This seems to me to be an unlikely cause, since an unsubscribed folder would not be missing messages, it would be be entirely absent. ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate
Re: [MlMt] Really weird bug--mail sent from wrong account
Hi, Don't know how to contact you offline. But, this reproduces the bug every time for me: Use website: www.123stitch.com (this is a commercial website for needlework supplies in the us). at the top of the page click on the link "contact us". it will open a mail message window in Mailmate. You can put some garbage in the title or body of the message or not as you like. Save this mailmate message window as a draft and see it save into the drafts folder of the first account you have alphabetically rather that the one listed as the "From:" in the window. This should do it for you every time. Just please be nice to the non-tech savvy lady who runs this site and don't send her a bunch of junk messages by accident. -Helen On 22 Sep 2016, at 3:00, Benny Kjær Nielsen wrote: On 22 Sep 2016, at 11:00, Benny Kjær Nielsen wrote: On 22 Sep 2016, at 6:56, Kee Hinckley wrote: Bingo! Re: [MlMt] sound notifications in Sierra
Ah, yes, forgot to mention that as well. I had the same problem with Sierra turning on UI sound effects, and I quickly turned them off. Not sure why, but I had also set the volume slide for "blow" to zero (and that one keeps going in Mailmate), whereas I hadn't done that to "glass" (which had stopped after some fiddling around). Three separate UIs for turning off sound notifications, bleh -- feels like Windows back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. But thank you for the tip -- it feels like a hack, but it worked. Re: [MlMt] Really weird bug--mail sent from wrong account
I had that happen recently also. I am running 5260. Mine ended up stuck in drafts because the account it tried to send from is an in-only mailbox and not set up to send out. I had to move the message from that account's drafts folder to the drafts folder for the actual account that was supposed to send it. Then, it worked fine. The only odd thing about that message was that the window for it was opened via a website from a "contact us" type link. The message window "From: section" showed the correct outgoing account, but mailmate actually sent from another one. In fact, it sent it from the one that is first by alphabet. i.e.: it said From: b...@c.com, but was sent from a...@c.com. And here I thought I was crazy... -Helen On 21 Sep 2016, at 14:28, Kee Hinckley wrote: I sent the following message: ``` From: "Kee Hinckley"To: metadatasupp...@tivo.com Subject: The 16x9 Series Image for "Difficult People" does not include the title text Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2016 10:37:26 -0700 Message-ID: <225b4f26-6097-4da6-9abd-8fa7d813b...@tivo.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary="=_MailMate_AC3B2727-7876-41A9-A2F9-BAB06F89D205_=" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Mailer: MailMate (2.0BETAr6056) ``` But it didn't go out via my TiVo account.
