Is there anyone on the list who may know if the plastic headlight covers on a
2002 C320, which tend to degrade and fog up with age, are replaceable as I only
seem to be able to find the complete headlight assembly availables? TIA.

Guys,
Forgive the memory lapse, as having MB-Tex in both my diesels I've had no
reason to remember this stuff until I found a C-class wagon for my brother
which has leather upholstery and the front seats have some light cracking.
What is the name of that super leather treatment stuff and where
Any knowledge/experience anyone on the list may have regarding a 2013 C240 M-B
with ~77K mi. which is for sale on a local used car lot here for $9995 would be
greatly appreciated. TIA.

Another WAHOO from someone who's semi-technically competent as the LF window
was lowered on my '85 300TD earlier and it wouldn't raise. I pulled the
switch apart and found it quite gunky, cleaned it with brake cleaner, spayed
with DeOxit, reinstalled and voila it works fine. Don't ya' just
An update for those who may be interested: 1) Installed my acetone + DeOxit
cleaned multi-purpose stalk in my '84 300D and all is OK (Yipeee!), and 2) The
interior fan problem I was having in my '85 300TD has also been resolved via
thoroughly cleaning the pins of the fan speed resistor cage
Am considering a move into the 21st century for my W123 and would like to find
if any of you have installed/added a CD player while maintaining the Becker
Grand Prix electronic radio. TIA.

Guys,
I changed the new mono valve insert, which I had obtained from the PartsGeek,
back to the one I had in there previously where one could not regulate the
temperature via the PBU thumbwheel . . . it would be max heat at the MAX
position or almost no heat at any other temp setting. The old
In case this may be useful to anyone, I measured the continuity of all pin
combinations of the multi-purpose stalk from my '84 300D.

Since both my '84 300D '85 300TD have trouble maintaining heat as chosen via
the thumbwheel on the left of the PBU and I've been through (including
resoldering) the troubleshooting guide numerous times for both units and not
found a definitive problem. To explain about the problem of not
For anyone keeping track, I changed out the PBU with a spare I have and the
same thing occurs where the interior fan does not come on when the Hi-speed fan
and middle (lower) PBU button are depressed after the car is started but the
fan will start when the defrost button is depressed, so it
The odd behavior which I described previously does not occur when the fan is on
and hitting any sort of bump, the fan does not come on after restarting the car
(e.g., when running errands) when it's ptreviously been running but seems to
come back on after 2 or 3 restarts. And, yes the #8 fuse
Guys,
Just thought I'd touch base to see if any of you have experienced the same fan
oddity and found the cause, etc. While driving around the other day on some
errands and stopping/starting the car occasionally, the interior fan would not
turn on after a restart unless I turned the car off
No matter how good/bad the price for one of these, I think the majority of the
folks on this list are of the somewhat frugal variety and wouldn't be
interested in the gas mileage.

Has anyone on the list tried/succeeded to rebuild their W123 multi-purpose
stalk (turn signal, headlight flasher, windshield wiper/washer, and cruise
control stalk)?
I've obtained a replacement and will hopefully install it tomorrow . . . cross
your fingers that the replacement works. TIA.

I've been having a somewhat intermittent problem with my low beam headlights
turning off seemingly on their own. It seem to occur when either hitting a
bump in the road, when using the turn signals, or when using the hi-beam
flasher so it must be in the multi-purpose stalk. I've sprayed
I've been looking on the Inet for a replacement multi-purpose stalk for my '84
300D and have found prices for new units at ~ $50 (URO) - $150 (OE). Since it
may be awhile before the weather warms up sufficiently for a PNP visit, what's
the list's consensus regarding URO products? TIA.

I may have missed the original post on this subject as I was away and deleted
most of the stuff from the list.
I have a repaired (cleaned and 0.202mm Nichrome wire replaced 5/13) '85 300TD
fuel sending unit which I'd let go for considerably less if that's what one of
you is interested in.

I can remember when I was somewhat of an audiophile that one could still prefer

For the techies on the list, I'm considering a new computer . . . any

Anyone have any testing clues as the headlight flashing (squeezing) function

do work. TIA

I've recently seen some of you post that you've converted
to Hella quartz halogen headlights. I see that Amazon has these (HELLA

free shipping. This may be a silly question, but is this

Since my '84 300D may very well be my last car and I didn't want to take a
chance on used fenders from a junkyard, I obtained a couple fenders from the
Classic Center in CA. As I recall, the price wasn't too exorbitant and the
fellow ( jon.sigg...@mbusa.com ) I dealt with was very helpful.
