Speaking of high, that Mahindra the the guy bought them put on CL the
same day for $4k higher and deleted the ad, so I guess he found a dummy
to buy it.

What you want to look for is farm estate sales, or retirement sales, or
liquidation sales. Our JDs went cheap. THe other H went cheap. The
one I bought went high. pretty much
I sold my JD 3032e. Now I am looking for another tractor. I am still
not sure if I want want to go with a cheap old tractor, or spend more
money on a little newer bigger tractor, or spend a little less on
another compact but slightly bigger than what I had.

Long time ago now, but my father used to haunt the equipment dealerships
in search of good deals on tractors that he could buy cheap and repair
himself.
Not for re-sale. Just for his own use.

There is a once a month tractor auction here that is going on right now. I have
been watching it online off and on and so far I don’t see any deals to be had
there. They seem to be going for the same or more than you can find them on
Craigslist’s

Except you have to pay 3% fee plus 9.5% sales tax

Good traffic = few cars - no traffic
Bad traffic = lots of cars - lots of traffic.
My new hood is in the kayakers paradise - Cabin John. Feel free to visit.
We can share a brew and diagnose my myriad engine oil and coolant leaks
(both turbos).

I was cruising around your old neighborhood quite a bit but did not see
any split wood around anywhere.
I think I might have gone to your new hood too, to a restaurant called
Founding Farmer out a ways.
Traffic up there is pretty much insane.

I was the finest wedge and sledge wood splitter in all of the NW (DC, zip
code 20016), while I lived in my old address.

Well I got the boy moved from DC to Providence last week, it was a
horrendous drive. I did drive from Chapel Hill to DC on Sunday, and
traffic was pretty minimal though I had to detour off the Fredericksburg
parking lot onto some back roads, as usual.

I spent high school weekends in the fall every year taking down trees and
cutting/splitting the lumber for next year's firewood. Mostly oak and cherry.
Hard stuff.
I still have the Monster Maul my Dad bought in 1969. I just gave the Tuttle

Which Kioti do you have? I'm leaning toward the CK27. I'm taking the
advice to
go oversized and not get the 20. I don't think we'll do a backhoe but you
never
know.
I like that there's a dealer near camp and one near my house. I'm kind of
thinking I'd keep
That fits with other advice I've gotten. I've also read to go up on power with
a hydro tractor which is why I'm thinking the 27 instead of the 20. Smaller
size is important to us for mowing around trees.
I'm thinking maybe loader backhoe and bush hog but I could probably give up the
backhoe.
I think this tractor is one of the best things since sliced bread. Today
at old okie acres I used it to load up a HUGE tree that blew down that I
cut up. Later at home I used it to move 124 around. While the FEL wont
lift the front of a 124 off the ground, it will lift it up enough then I
can
But thinking I should pony up more money and get this setup, which
the bucket detaches from the FEL and you attach this, looks like it
would work a lot better
. Probably won't get more than
150 hours a year either way...

With the splitter. That's what I do. (I never move the ram into
its horizontal position.) I just chew around the edges with the
thing, it gets it done eventually.

Loading firewood is one of the things I'm especially interested in
having an FEL for. Dad is probably going to start spending a lot
more time at camp now that he's retired and I'll be processing wood
for him. I'll probably also get a splitter to put on the 3pt.
Actually with that I might split
