Thanks Jaime,

I figured out those speaker connectors behind the radio are indeed the rear
speaker connectors, so I can use jumpers through the fader connector for the
front speaker (+) signal, now I need to figure out the (-) signal.

[MBZ] Hot cars and hot coffee, hot

2015-06-20 Thread Rich Thomas via Mercedes
Went down the road just now to the shopping center, Cars and Coffee was
this morning. Some generally interesting cars, one guy had a
bronze/orange McLaren, there was a 190E 2.3-16 in general running
condition that looked pretty cool, wasn't a trailer queen. One woman
had a nice 65 Chevy convertible she got for her 65th bday. A few
Porches and a DB9, a very nice older M6, a Lotus that looked like the
engine was poured into the body, coupla older Vettes and a new one.
Really nice old green woody. A blue Mini-Moke that looked fun.

Err - that would be true of _any_ email server. Once it's
full, any new mail bounces.

Personally, I would NOT use GoDaddy. I started using them
more than 10 year ago. There intro prices for domains is
aggressive, and there service has been good. I just don't
like their marketing.

So I have migrated away. My actual web hosting for almost 15
years has been http://www.site5.com. I choose them because
they used Linux servers, were adamant about no adult content,
and prices were decent. Now years later, they have proven
to be good. I have had occasional troubles and they have
always been prompt and effective at fixing it. I'm even
allowed a ssh login!

If all you want is a domain and enough server to host email,
it's probably overkill. If you actually have a website to
host, I recommend them.

Bad idea. If the amplifier sections are designed
appropriately, it's possible to combine them - but you either
get double the current or double the voltage and without
changing the speaker impedance you likely won't get much more
power.

And most likely, the amplifier sections are NOT designed that
way. In which case the amp outputs "fight" each other and
all the power goes into destroying the amp rather than out
the speakers.

Ah. They grounded one side of the speaker line - huh?
*shakes head* Not a good idea. Oh well. It is what it is.

You might be able to test your 1492 with a meter. Measure
the resistance between the various speaker "-" terminal.
Also measure from the "-" terminal to chassis ground.
Probably should check both polarities.

Compare that to the same test procedure done with the "+"
terminals. If the amp output is NOT ground referenced, the
two could be similar. I don't know what values to expect.

R-12 is still easily available.. it just requires a license to buy it.
My supplier here will sell any amount I want as long as I flip out the
license and sign the form that says I'm EPA Certified to install it.

Well.. that and cleared by my bank to write the check for it.. it ain't
cheap.

License exam can be done online.. takes 2 hrs or less to study up for it..
maybe 20 minutes to take the exam, file it.. etc etc..

Availability may vary in your state, ie California, for example..

Change over to R-134A is your best bet as R-12 is unavailable at any
 price.

They say,

-
What Is The Process of Applying Your Leak-Free Roof?

Two phases are required to properly install Your Leak-Free Roof. First,
the Fix My Roof Prep Crew clears all debris and/or gravel from the roof.
Next, we wash the roof’s entire surface with a high-powered pressure
washer and allow it to dry; proper adhesion of the silicone to Your
Roof’s substrate requires zero dampness.

In the Second Phase, our Restoration Crew seals the roof’s edges and
reinforces all seams, penetrations, and areas of potential failure with
butyl mesh. The Restoration Crew then applies the liquid silicone and
reinforced mesh to the entire roof. The topcoat of silicone can either
white (for maximum energy savings) or tan (if your neighborhood or
homeowner’s association requires it. Custom colors are also available for
an additional cost and with 2 months advance notice.

Re: [MBZ] Hot cars and hot coffee, hot

2015-06-20 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Sounds like a nice morning. Much better than risking heat stroke at the
pick-n-pull! Took me six hours and a few gallons of sweat to liberate a
#20 head from a '95 S350. I also took the injection pump, the glow plug
relay, injection lines and injectors. I also have the turbo, which I
didn't really want but it came off with the head, and at that point I was
so beat I didn't have the energy to remove it and leave it behind.

The #1 piston looked very oil compared to the rest, and the head gasket
looked ruptured at the oil gallery near #1, so I'm guessing that it was
burning a lot of oil and maybe bent the front rod and ovaled out the
cylinder. There were no honing marks visible on the cylinder wall at #1,
but I didn't check the others to compare.

Enjoy the fact you _have_ a pick-n-pull with mercedes.
My back yard has _far_ more than any commercial yard for at
least 100 miles.

Congrats on the #20 head!

I am. Feast or famine though, they crush each car after thirty days. Now
there are no 124 cars, but this 140, 126, 202, and 210 cars.

I really don't need the head, but couldn't stand letting it go to the crusher.
