Do I need to add any fresh solder, or just melt the existing solder Adding a touch of new (with its new flux) is crucial. You shouldn't need to remove any that's already there, unless this job has already been done once! I sometimes wire-brush the board, using a Dremel, to remove oxidation.

From what a gathered from a friend who was a flight doctor in the air force, U-2s fly at around 70,000 feet. Very hairy flying, too -- it wasn't uncommon to make a banking turn and have one wing shake in an incipient low speed stall while the other was shaking with incipient shock stall.
