Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel

2021-05-09 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
As someone involved in the security side of things, I am aware of this
incident, which was due to a ransomeware attack. These exploit the ignorance of
humans to be successful, which is the weakest part of the whole system. If we
relied solely on hardware and software solutions for security we would be far
better off. When the human element is factored in, all bets are off.

You can’t imagine the stupid, idiotic stuff people do or get coerced to do. I
see this stuff all the time, and it never ceases to amaze me.

If I get the right person to respond to my efforts, I’m in and ready to wreak
havoc.

In a case like this, the best thing to do is completely shut down and start
methodically bringing things up with trusted/clean hardware and images. It
takes time, but I assume this is what the transmission line folks are doing.

Re: [MBZ] New Okie Acres

2021-04-29 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Clay,

If they’re not set on ND the former Amish farm I posted in the original post
might be of interest. I think it was 100 acres with 60 farmable. Big Amish
house and related buildings that need some work and most likely electricity run
in them. Outside of Wausau, WI, which is about as temperate as ND, probably
better. Under $400k, which seems like a good deal.

Figure you could lease the farmland to start.

Florida allows plate transfers, so unless an LEO had some kind of “sixth sense”
that allowed them to know what was going on with the car you removed the plate

2021-02-27 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Max or right, most states will sell you a temporary plate for a token sum.
However, that means having to make a trip to the DMV, which may be difficult
for a number of reasons.

What I usually do is take a plate off one of my existing vehicles and
registration that won’t need to be driven in my absence and use that. If I
would get stopped I have the plate I’m going to transfer, the registration and
insurance card.

Craigslist, like other online places, don’t like VPNs, so they block the known
exit nodes for the services. It’s a minor whack a mole thing, but they do it

We ban employees from using private VPNs for work, for example, because it sets
off alarms when someone logs in from Budapest and an hour later shows up in
Sydney.

Re: [MBZ] Kleb car at a Kleb price

2020-09-19 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Probably high 60s here in the afternoon with a breeze. Sky was so clear that
within a few minutes I could feel I was going to get burned on my face if I
didn’t turn occasionally. No filter here like there is in FL. Nippy last night
in the high 40s, but nothing a light jacket didn’t cure.

Got an outdoor wedding today outside of Nashville (IN) so it should be equally
as nice.

Re: [MBZ] OT - Mini Split AC Units

2020-06-28 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Thanks for all the information, Mitch, appreciate it.

My install will be pretty straightforward. Interior unit high on side of
interior block (garage) wall, condensor on the outside of same wall, probably
8’-10’ below the level of the interior unit. Around here code requires a
precast or composite pad of some sort, which I can buy from any number of
suppliers. If I do this myself I’ll make every effort to meet or exceed code so
that if I get busted inspection will go easy, as well as to give the impression
the install was done professionally.

On thing I wondered about: If I get a pre-made line set that’s slightly longer
than what I need, does it matter if I just looped it to take up the slack
rather than have to cut and flare?

Pretty much, yes. It’s only really noticeable when you’re sitting still or when
you first turn the key on to start.

It’s a stock Carter high pressure pump that was a little over $100 when I
bought mine. The only hack involved was to block off the overflow line, I
think. I’ve got pictures and some posts from another forum/list that explain
how I did it if you want them, just let me know.

Re: [MBZ] Batteries

2020-03-30 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Nope. There’s one eBay seller who has some “reconditioned” battery packs,
whatever that means. I asked for clarification but have yet to get a response.

I went ahead and bought a set of 10 cells that were highly rated off a solid
(domestic) Amazon seller. Cost me a little under $30 for the set of 10. They
have solder tabs as do the originals, so I’ll be deconstructing the old pack as
a template to build the new one, shouldn’t be difficult.

All is well in Florida. Staying away from all the blue hairs, as they don’t
seem to be taking any of this shelter in place stuff seriously.

Re: [MBZ] OT - Mini-Split AC Units

2020-03-26 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
I had a nice side business years ago buying and selling electromechanical pins.
I’ve often had a couple around the house for entertainment, but like cars, the
darned younger people with more money than brains have driven the values up,
even for the old EM machines, to the point where they’re often unaffordable.
That’s caused a bunch of opportunists to come out of the woodwork to buy these
things up at any price to clean up (“shop”) and resell to these people.

Go look on your local CL under “pinball” and see how many listings there are by
people who will pay “top dollar” for your old pinball game.

This is a nice Williams single player “Klondike” machine:

https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1388=66466

Needs to be shopped and some minor electrical repairs. Most likely just a good
cleaning. Single player games are not typically as desirable as multi player
games for the obvious reason, so they often command less money. I’m getting
this one for $450 and once shopped and working 100% it’s probably worth around
$800-$1000, maybe more. I’ll disassemble the play field, relamp everything and
install new rubbers. That will cost maybe $75-$100 in parts. Everything else is
labor.

As for your second issue, a lot of times I’ve found that the seller has sold
the item and didn’t keep the confirmation email from CL that has the link to
manage the listing.

If you don’t have a CL account, it’s a one shot thing. Lose or misplace the
confirmation email and you can’t access the post to manage it.

Plugs on the M112/3 are required about every 75k-100k. I have service records
on this car, so I knew it was due, as well as having looked at one and seen

While I expected a difference, more in mileage than actual running, I was

Re: [MBZ] Rescue Critters: was Ok y’all **it just got real

2020-03-16 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Our Country animal shelter is transitioning to a no-kill shelter, and part of
the process involving feral cats is capture, spay/neuter and release. They
notch the cat’s ear when this is done so they can be identified.

It’s working pretty well. Their euthanasia numbers have gone down
significantly. The worst part is people bringing in kittens that are not
weaned. Those have to be fostered or they’re euthanized.

Nobody’s ever seen this virus before. Therefore, if you’re interested in
making a vaccine, you first had access to that virus only a couple months
 ago. That’s not long.

[To make a vaccine] you first need to make a decision as to what approach
you want to take. Then you have to do extensive animal model testing to
make sure that the approach that you’ve taken is safe in animals, and
>>> that
it induces an immune response which would likely be protective. Then you

But what they didn’t realize is people have been working on an Ebola
vaccine for 20 years. They’ve done the animal model testing. They’ve done
the testing to make sure that the vaccine was safe and was immunogenic.

But that’s not true here. This is a new virus. So we’re starting from
 scratch.

What is it about this virus that makes people confident that a vaccine
 will be available?

I don’t know. You know, I’d say about 15% to 20% of the respiratory

I think this [COVID-19] virus likely will come back because it’s
different. If you were infected with SARS or MERS viruses, you were sick.
And it’s very easy to tell who was sick and who wasn’t. You could then
quarantine those people — put a moat around them, if you will — so that
they wouldn’t infect others. So those infections quickly died out. This
virus is more like flu. It spreads in a similar manner to flu by
respiratory droplet. It’s about as contagious as flu. It has the same set

Yeah, that’s one of the “smart” pumps. They can be opened and serviced. No
electronics to speak of if they like the W140 and W210 versions, but some
contacts that can be adjusted to control state change (pressure/vacuum) and
high/low pressure/vacuum thresholds.

Lots of info on BW on these as I recall.

Are the pumps on the late W124s a separate unit like PSE pumps on later models,
or the “dumb” kind like the “football” found in W126 models?

I ask because the “dumb” pumps don’t have any logic, just a pressure actuated
snap switch that reverses rotation, changing from vacuum to pressure and
vice-versa. If the pressure switch fails the pump is more or less junk.

[MBZ] Gasoline in Diesel

2020-03-10 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Buddy across the street has a late model diesel pickup truck, a Dodge, I
believe. He thinks his kid filled it up with gasoline, but is not sure, and if
so how much.

Is there any way he can test the fuel to see if it’s got gasoline in it, and/or
the concentration?

Just certain parts. I’ll take the Sierras and most of northern CA (like

When it comes to an assortment of ethnic neighborhoods, I think Milwaukee wins
hands down. You can stay in an area about 2-3 square miles and hit a good 5-7
different ethnicities. Spread out more and get more. I can recall:

Greek
Polish
Peruvian
German
Slovak
Macedonian (sort of Greek)
Mexican
Moroccan
Indian
Thai

Probably more, those are the ones I can recall.

Dang, I just had Thai for lunch and I’m hungry now.

Re: [MBZ] ML500 saga continues

2020-03-10 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Randy,

Here in the States you’re required to have a title issued by the state for any
vehicles you own. On top of that you typically pay an annual registration fee,
which can be based on value, age, or just a flat fee depending on the state.
The registration fee covers your tags or license plate for that annual fee.

Not all states require titles to buy or sell a car. Some allow a bill of sale,
most of which are based on the age of the vehicle, like if it’s 20 years old or
older for example. There can be a title for these older vehicles, but it’s not
required.

Florida, for example, requires titles for everything regardless of age. Georgia
(I think) allows a bill of sale for older vehicles.

There is no consistency with any of this, as it’s all determined by the state,
not federal, government.

Have you got a bill of sale?

With that and Vermont you should be able to wash the title. However, I’m

the VIN with a source that would have information like this, such as the state

Re: [MBZ] Corona Beer Virus, AKA Boo I scared you

2020-03-09 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Then you haven’t seen a lot of Florida.

Northern Florida is one of the largest producers of pulp for paper. While this
isn’t a consumable in the way a vegetable or fruit is, it’s agriculture.

The area around Tampa, specifically Plant City, is the largest domestic growing
area for strawberries. Buy a quart of berries in your grocery store about now
and they’re probably from Florida. The production of blueberries in this area
is reaching significant proportions as well.

Immediately south and east of Tampa is a huge area of tomatoes and cucumbers,
so much so there are processing plants that sit idle most of the year to handle
the harvest. Farther south in the Bradenton and Sarasota area is one of the
largest citrus operations, as well as to the east in Lakeland.

The rest of the state is mostly left to cattle ranching, horse farms and citrus.

Florida has very strict laws regarding the use and sale of fertilizers,
including sales to consumers. They’re only available for use during certain
times of the year and are highly regulated. You won’t find commercial
applicators breaking these laws, as they’re quite strict and involve serious
fines and even jail time under certain circumstances. Consumers can be cited
and fined as well, and the state is quite aggressive about it. You own a single
family dwelling but buy five 40 pound bags of fertilizer? Expect a visit or
letter from the state. They don’t screw around.

My son has four different state issued certifications and licenses he has to
maintain to be able to purchase, handle and apply fertilizers and herbicides in
the state. He gets spot checked by a state inspector randomly, and if it's
determined that he misapplied something not only does he get busted, but his
employer as well (one of which is a golf course.)

Understand that driving five miles in this area can take considerable time.

Worst case, you could visit Colma while you’re there. Massive cemetery that is

SFO?

If you only have a few hours you can’t go into the city, you’ll never get back
in time. If it’s a day while you’re there, sure, go into the city and do the
tourista stuff, Fisherman’s Wharf, get a Boudin bread brown with some clam
chowdah, etc., drive across the Golden Gate to the Marin Highlands...

I used to ride the cable cars all the time when I lived there. Locals know to
go up the block from the turntables where the touristas cluster for hours and
just jump on there. Saves waiting around in line.

I loved riding the California Street line to Grant. That puts you right at
Chinatown, and the California Street line isn’t loaded with touristas like the
Powell St. lines are.

$2500, maybe. It needs:

Paint
Rubber (seals)
Dash pad
Dash wood
Upholstery
Carpet
Tires

And that’s just the beginning. I can only assume that the Einstein who came up
with this listing was experiencing a severe rectal-cranial inversion.

Heh. I did the same. I cashed out a small amount to retire some debt because
the market was so high. Within a week I had recouped my cash out.

Now I’m down a big chunk, but as with any “correction”, dip, whatever, it all
levels out in the long term. I’m not even remotely close to panicking.

Call him or Tom, it’s quicker, but you’re not going to like the answer.

serv...@beckerautosound.com

If someone before you tried to put the code in wrong several times the watchdog
timer will have to run down. It doesn’t matter if the radio is powered down or
not, that doesn’t affect the timer. I would just power it up and let it sit. If
they did it enough times it could potentially take a day to time out. Nothing
they can do about it, the function is a feature of the radio’s firmware.

Won’t it fit in a Priority Mail flat rate box? At best that would set you back

Re: [MBZ] OT: IP Cams, WAS W124 300D alternator replacement?

2020-02-13 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
I have a fish tape.

Ideally, I wanted to run the cable inside the aluminum soffit to the center of
the garage (soffit) and then do a straight shot (right angle to front of
garage) from that point across the garage to the utility room where my data
frame is located.

Getting the soffit open was more of an ordeal than I expected. This is the
standard perforated aluminum soffit that runs in a couple of channels on each
side. To loosen up one side I have to pull nails out of the aluminum fascia so
I can release that side of the soffit. Ugh.

Also, since there’s nothing above the soffit, I’ve got nothing to attach the
camera to, unless there’s a stringer in the corner, which there probably is. If
I could open the soffit I would just put a board across it to provide a place
to secure the camera mount.

I’m still not sure how I’m going to go about this. Grr.

Re: [MBZ] OT - Shingles Vaccine

2020-02-04 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Shingrex is the vaccine of choice according to my internist. I’m not sure if
they even offer the “old” vaccine.

Randy, while our insurance system is flawed, nearly all insurers cover
preventative care 100%, such as immunizations and annual physicals. There can
be limits, as there once was for the former shingles vaccine, requiring the
patient to be 60 years or older to receive the vaccine for free. With Shingrex
they’ve now lowered the age to 50.

I left work around 1:30 today and went to bed until about 7:00. I’m feeling
better now, but the side effects were still rough although shorter this time.

Re: [MBZ] OT - Shingles Vaccine

2020-02-04 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Last night was not fun. For whatever reason I froze to death all night long
despite having a massive blanket on top of the covers. I had to get up twice
during the night because I had drank a boatload of water in the evening.

When I got up, I was frighteningly thirsty. I had my regular large tumbler of
“crappaccino”, but was still thirsty so I drank two more big glasses of water
before I left for work.

My hands were crazy cold, too. Had to run them under the hot water in the
shower to get them warmed up.

I’m not sure if this is from the shingles shot or the work I did at the old
house, moving a bunch of heavy stuff out. I took a couple of Naproxem sodium
before I left for the office. I feel a bit weary, but functional. Not sure how
long this will last.

Ugh. At least it’s done and I can check shingles off the list of potential
afflictions.

I’m pretty sure they should have a notch in them that indexes in a pin or
square sort of projection on the top of the mount. Be sure to get them aligned
before you lower the engine onto the mount.

Re: [MBZ] OT cost of living in Seattle

2020-02-04 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Without going into the details, nor addressing the political aspect of this,
Ronald Reagan was pretty much the one who ditched government sponsored
resources such as the ones you mention. In fairness, it wasn’t totally an
effort to get government out of the business of caring for the indigent and
mentally challenged, more so a somewhat twisted approach to not meddle in
people’s lives. There were a lot of people fomenting a revolt for -abled people
have more control over their lives.

The pendulum swung far, far beyond what I believe a lot of people expected,
essentially leaving those in need of support and services to pretty well fend
for themselves.

In my case there was no callback, it was incumbent upon me to schedule the
second time. But I got mine at Walgreen’s as my internist has had a hard time
keeping it in stock. The bulk of the practice is and has been geriatric
patients for some years, so they do a lot of immunizations.

They have “flu shot carnival” (my description) every fall where they immunize
over 2500 patients in about 4-5 hours. It’s a real assembly line operation that
is finely tuned, for sure.

FCP does drop ship from distribution warehouses all over the country for some
parts. I just got some Lemförder M112 motor mounts and transmission mount and
they came next day from warehouse in Miami. And that was with my free shipping.

I would agree that FCP does not have the granular selection of parts that some
other suppliers have. Not sure what that’s about.

Re: [MBZ] OT - RIP - Neal Peart

2020-01-10 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Yeah, the whole story about him just taking off after their deaths is really
sad. Apparently, Geddy and Alex heard little from him the whole time and were
really concerned about the band ever getting back together.

I heard some really wild stories about them from their crew about when they
toured as an opening act for Kiss. The guys in Kiss thought there was something
wrong with them because they didn’t party or have all the groupies. They used
to barge into the room where Kiss would be having all their post-concert
debauchery and harsh everyone’s buzz. I don’t recall if it was Paul or Ace that
Alex used to purposely try and bust up his groupie hookups on occasion just to
mess with him. At least that’s what I was told.

I think the best part of AK I saw was the Aleutians. They’re frighteningly
rugged, like being on a National Geographic program, and the weather is wildly
unpredictable. It’s difficult to believe that people survive out there.

While I’m no expert, having worked all over AK off and on for eight years, I
contend that anyone who lives and remains there for more than a year has got
some sort of weird affinity for the place. As I’ve stated before, I was told by
more than one of the locals that people who came up from the Lower 48 either
left shortly after their arrival or they stayed forever. That, and everyone I
worked with who were locals other that the indigenous folks always seemed a
little “off kilter”, for a lack of a better description. Nothing you could put
your finger on, just different.

I never had a desire to stay. While it’s a beautiful place, and I was
privileged to see parts of it that few people ever do, it was depressing for a
number of reasons.

[MBZ] FCP Euro Free Shipping

2020-01-09 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Placed a couple of orders in the last week for E320 stuff, as I need to get
caught up on the wagons maintenance.

I ordered a set of spark plugs a while back, then it occurred to me that I need
to do engine mounts, something that makes replacing spark plugs a real piece of
cake. Getting them out while each side of the engine is jacked up to replace
the mount puts them in a position where they’re easily accessible. Nice.

So I ordered a set of Lemförder mounts, engine and transmission, yesterday. As
I’m under no duress to get this done, I chose their free shipping option as I
usually do.

I got a notice from UPS that I had a package coming from them today, which
would be the OE K40 relay I bought last week in a closeout sale they had.
Surprise! The mounts must have been in a South Florida warehouse, so they’re
coming today, too.

Guess I need to set some time aside to do this now...

Re: [MBZ] OT - Fun with Water Heaters

2019-12-31 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Sort of.

Because the market is very active here (2nd highest increase in home prices
nationwide) we’re going to go with a fixed price broker. $400 will get us a
year on MLS and full support from the brokerage as far as managing the listing
and advice on pricing and comps.

While we could likely sell doing a FSBO, and have done them in the past,
there’s so much activity through brokers around here that it’s easy to be lost
as an FSBO. Not only that, as you well know brokers typically won’t touch them
since they won’t get a commission out of the deal.

We’ve got a boatload of equity in the house, so we don’t mind giving up 2%-3%
to a buyer’s broker to move the place. It’s a small price to pay to get the
exposure that MLS will give us. A buyer could still contact us directly and
avoid using a broker, too. We’ve got our handy real estate attorney friend four
doors away who will handle the sale for us for a very reasonable fee.

Re: [MBZ] OT - Fun with Water Heaters

2019-12-30 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Time to make a Lowe’s trip in the morning with a 10% off coupon and buy another
hybrid water heater like the one I put in at the old house. Yeah, they’re $1200
new, but cost about $100/year to operate. A comparable standard resistance
element water heater costs around $400/year, so the hybrid payback is pretty
quick.

After all, it’s only money...

I will say that documenting a job like the Finnie is a bit of a PITA, you get
used to incorporating it into the process. I like doing it as I enjoy sharing
the work with others, plus it gives me reference points if I need to return to
a particular job or repair validate my work or check against my memory.

I think it also adds value when the time comes to sell the car. You could be a
real schlub when it comes to doing the work, but if potential buyers can see
what and how you did something it instill confidence that the work was done.

I recall this one from the last time around. Nice car, but lots of work done on
the body that would concern me for the long run.

I’ve got my eyes on a 1966 gasser that a guy has had on CL over by Orlando for
awhile. It started at $12k and several months later it’s down to $9k. The
seller is some gruff cracker guy who is allegedly selling it for an aged owner
as a favor, and he’s not very nice. I started out with him on my sock puppet
account but he ghosted me quick when I asked questions and challenged the
price. A few weeks later I reached out with my real persona and within a couple
of email exchanges he got nasty and blew me off. He acknowledged that it’s
really worth around $5k, but that the owner thinks it’s worth far more and he’s
not empowered to haggle.

I figure I’ll give him a few more months and see if I can go see it in person.
Maybe then he’ll have been worn down enough by the lack of activity that he can
convince the owner of the “real” value.

Re: [MBZ] Cell phones, long post

2019-12-20 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
I’ve mentioned this previously and it’s probably not an option for Kaleb, but
around here Spectrum (Charter bought out Brighthouse and this is their new
name) piggybacks on VZW for $14/month for 1Gb or $44/month for unlimited data.
You can BYOD for newer phones (iPhone SE or 6s is the oldest Apple stuff, don’t
know about Android) so you’re not even obligated to buy hardware from them,
although they do offer device contracts like other carriers.

That’s an all inclusive price, too. I’m covering four lines right now with a
monthly cost of $56. Your data is polled among the devices, too, so if the
usage is lopsided and one exceeds their limit you don’t get dinged as long as
you haven’t exceeded the total.

Re: [MBZ] Cell phones, long post

2019-12-20 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Here’s the straight poop from someone who was involved heavily in the buildout
of both AT and Verizon’s cellular networks:

Both carriers have the highest number of cells nationwide of any carrier that
is a primary, with Verizon having the most. All the others, save Sprint, are
piggybacking on one of the big guys. The piggyback contracts have limitations
on the number of cells available and the coverage areas.

Go with Verizon. They are the best as far as coverage between the two. They’ll
rape you on their plans, but that’s the price you pay for accessibility. I’ve
used them continuously since the early 1990s and never had a coverage or
bandwidth issue. The few times I had poor signals in a fixed area I frequented,
I called them and reported it and found the issue resolved within a few days.
They can tune their coverage and will do so if they get enough tickets
reporting it.

[MBZ] OT - Gross Incompetence. (RANT)

2019-12-19 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
As I get things sorted at the new house, I purchase new products, some quite
substantial and/or expensive. I have expectations that these products be well
designed and built, some of the criteria I use to make my purchase decision.

I’m questioning the competence of some major manufacturers after my recent
experiences, for example:

1.) Kohler Cimmaron toilet - plumber son gets it all installed and ready to go,
on,y to discover that the fill valve is defective and must be replaced. A call
to my good friends at Kohler got a, “OK, like, we’re sorry, and we’ll send out
a replacement in 8-10 days”

Yeah, not acceptable, folks. A very expressive conversation with the phone
idiot about Herbert V. Kohler and “gracious living” (one of his “values” that’s
engraved all over the company) and I git two day expedited shipping. And by the
way, who pays for the plumber’s callback because of your incompetence?

2.) Bosch dishwasher - Got the old dishwasher out, the new Bosch ready to go
in, but no sign of a drain hose. Look at the installation manual under “Parts
provided with dishwasher - drain hose.” Nowhere to be found.

A call to Bosch yields a similar response. 5-7 days and we’ll have one to you.
Nope, buddy, not acceptable. “If you call back in the morning between 8 and 12
Eastern time you can get one expedited in two days.” Yea, that’s what I’ll do.

Holy mother of pearl, what is wrong with these places?

Grr.

the country from the Peruvian community in Milwaukee.

We used to travel down there together, and on one of our trips he told me to
pack formal wear but didn’t tell me why. There was this big reception with
Fujimori and a bunch of business leaders that we went to, and he got some sort
of award for the work he did for this medical group that received the donations
he coordinated.

It was pretty cool. I had to fill out a card with the phonetic pronunciation of
my name for the receiving line and I got my picture taken with him. I should
dig that out...

Re: [MBZ] OT - Who Has Direct HVAC Experience?

2019-12-18 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Follow up:

AC guy just left. Nothing I did disturbed things, it was pure chance.

“A” coil has leaks and the system has leaked down to the point where the low
pressure switch won’t engage. Looks like the coil is warranty but I’ll have to
cover the labor. Easy R as the unit is right in my garage and you can walk
right up to it, so that helps.

It sucks, but better it fails now that in the middle of summer. It’s 60F and
sunny today and will continue to be like this for a few days, so my timing is
good.

There’s always a bright side...

Re: [MBZ] HF click torque wrenches

2019-12-18 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
Don’t buy a HF inch pound torque wrench. I don’t like the way they click (or
don’t). The click doesn’t seem to be very positive.

When I did the injector reseal on the W211 I needed a 1/4” drive torque wrench
that would do 7 inch-pounds. I got this one and was very pleased with it:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M12284X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8=1

Not quite a HF price, but the quality seems very good as was the accuracy
checked against a beam type wrench that has been calibrated.

Re: [MBZ] TV's

2019-12-18 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
I came rally close to going OLED when I bought a new TV earlier this year. I
realize they punch everything up in the stores, but across the board they were
definitely better as far as picture quality.

I’ve got a 55” plasma that we took out of service because it was ghosting
slightly in one part of the display. I may put it on the wall in the garage for
some really decadent garage entertainment.
