What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I spent most of the day at
Hok-si-lah in Lake City and at Sand Point nearby. We saw two Yellow-rumps
and ID'd another warbler by sound (Yellow) and probably heard two more
species.
Today, I walked out my door and spent less than an hour at the park next

Four male and at least three female Golden-winged Warblers were foraging in
the oak tree on the south side of our house yesterday, visible from the

It must have been a fall-out. Within a couple hours this morning along west
side of White Bear Lake from Manitou Island to Clark Ave: scarlet tanagers
(6-8), catbirds (10-12), redstarts, yellow, common yellowthroat,
chestnut-sided, black & white, blackpoll, Nashville,blackburnian,
Cape Mays are far more interested in suet feeders than most others.

roughly 3-1), RB Grosbeaks (3 pairs), Catbirds, Cardinals, Grackles,

Langton Lake Park, on the west side of Roseville just east of 35W, has been
busy for the past two days with warblers as well numerous Ruby--Crowned
Kinglets. The path on the west side of the small lake was especially

South Minneapolis, saw and heard a Merlin flying southwest over 36th Street and
Edmund Boulevard just west of the Mississippi River @ 11 a.m. A few minutes

Since no one else has posted anything here, be aware there has been a good
fallout of warblers at Park Point in Duluth this weekend. Heard there were 24

There were very good numbers and variety of birds at Buffalo River State
Park this morning. There was a large warbler-vireo flock around the main
parking area in the swimming beach area. The best bird was an adult male
Northern Parula. I got first of the season Harris and White-crowned

Took a walk around Hartley Nature Center this morning. Amidst the fog and
light rain, there were quite a few birds out and about. First bird of the
day was the male Mourning Warbler singing away in his spot. Several
Blackburnian Warblers, Yellow Warblers and other birds were heard too!

I found large numbers of warblers this morning along the river at Grey Cloud
Dunes SNA. In particular, singing Tennessee Warblers were present in very high
numbers, making it difficult to ID other birdsong. Highlights included 15
warbler species, Black-billed Cuckoo, Olive-sided Flycatcher,
Total of 17 species foraging in the sand at just 2 sites on the L Superior side
of Park Point: 12th St access (14 species along a 100-yard stretch) and at 31st

Briefly, I did a walk this AM around Lake Normandale in Bloomington early
this morning, and there appears to be some major warbler movement going on,
13 species observed over about 45 minutes listed below:
Connecticut Warbler (singing repeatedly from the undergrowth on the south
side of the lake)
This morning a group of 6 of us saw this list of warblers at Old Cedar
Ave Bridge, most of them from the trail to the west of the parking lot:

In my yard in East Grand Forks, Polk County, MN, over the past few days, a few
warblers have been moving through, including Nashville, Wilson's,
Chestnut-sided, Blackburnian, Black-and-White, Yellow, Tennessee, and American
Redstart.
I've also seen several Red-eyed Vireos, a Warbling Vireo,
Attempted a local big warbler day but had to stick close to home because of
pooches so spend the day at French Regional Park, Hennepin County. It was
kind of like birding in Disney World with all the people but the birds
didn't seem to mind. Managed over 50 species even with my late start (10:00

After Forest Strnad and I canceled plans to bird the area lakes today because
of the high wind, I decided to at least go for a walk with my daughter at River
Bend Nature Center. Besides seeing a large Fox Snake on the trail (very cool!),

Mille Lacs Sherburne Counties
15 warblers in southern Mille Lacs and northern Sherburne Counties this
week - but never more than 9 species a day, never more than 12 in a flock -
covers eight morning and lunch walks.
Nate had five Red Crossbills in Princeton yesterday (used his I-Phone for
audio part of ID, nice feature!).
2 new lifers for me. If you set the birdbaths out, they will come in
flocks. Blackburnian and Black-throated Green. Lots of Redstarts,too

I finally experienced a warbler wave in Wild River State Park the afternoon of
August 21, Chisago County. ?In the mixed flock were Golden-winged,
Black-and-white, Chestnut-sided (male in non-breeding plumage), and Blue-winged
Warblers, American Redstarts and one Ovenbird. ?There were also
Ottertail county near Richville, MN.
We have had a number of species in our yard already this week. (The
white-throated sparrows seem to have moved on.)
