0.98 mail/new problem

Using 0.98 have a problem with mail / news client. After reading within newsgroups if I go back to either of my email accounts the get msgs button is greyed out and it is not possible to check mail. To correct I must exit mail / news and reload and everything is fine again. Anybody else have
