I have a dog in this hunt. I have been a candidate for Park Board and I ran against
Marie Hauser as the Green Party endorsed candidate in the last election. If that makes
me a stalking horse, so be it.

According to today's Star Tribune, Mayor Rybak's choice for police
chief, William McManus, has across-the-board support among leaders from
minority communities in Minneapolis. Needless to say, the Police
Federation is not as enthusiastic.

day old and I'm disturbed to see any council members announcing whether they
will choose to support him or not.
This should be a time where council members do their own review of the
candidate's background and experience
Speaking only from my own experience.
I know quite a few democrats that got pushed out of the party because of one
stance or another. They became Republicans, and some decided to run have
received our endorsement. They enjoy a good deal of friendship and respect
among the other party members
I agree with Mark's statement that the issue before
the council should be about whether or not McManus
will make a good chief or not. To me, the glaringly
obvious issue os that there are some council members
who SUPPORT and APPROVE OF police brutality.
There is no other reason to push so hard
