Is the backlight never turned on by myth? It should at least be turned on when the frontend is started. In the settings menu, I have all options tagged except for 'always on'. Instead I have the 'pop-up time' set to 60 seconds. I am running lcdproc 0.4.5 and mythtv cvs from about 2 weeks ago.
