Y'know, rattle can paint jobs get short shrift all the time. But it's
relatively easy to get a pretty decent job of one if you use quality
materials and take your time with the prep work.
Colorite and Duplicolor are a couple of systems you can use to get
decent results for less than a hundred

Yh My '83 cb550sc has an awful rattle can paint job and as
you guessed it, when gas gets on it, even a small spec, it still takes
some paint out with it. And I tend to use 93 octane or better in my
bike and it runs fine :)

You misunderstand. I didn't say those bikes were unattractive. I
said MINE was. It was painted out of a can, and being new or old and
clumsy, I spilled gas numerous times and the tank is bald of paint
over a large area. It was pretty beat up when i got it. No esthetic
issues with those bikes

know that stuff is pretty good at taking paint off as well...

Several of us have sprung for an aftermarket centerstand, and I can
tell you it's probably the best investment you can make in terms of
convenience and easy maintenance.
Especially oil changes and chain clean/lube. Best deal available is
