2012-02-14 Thread Steven Millward
In that analysis I shared with you all there was something that I didn't
point out that I thought someone might spot. The clubs that had
outperformed wages consistently in recent years had all been those that had
come from Championship to Premiership with the same manager. Bolton with
Allardyce, Charlton with Curbishley and Birmingham under Bruce.

It's a double edged finding. It suggested to me that continuity is
important but that managers forge their reputations based on that. All
three are really trading off that one good stint with a club where they had
the chance to build a team of their own. I thought that maybe Morgan had
already spotted this and so was due to keep the faith.

We agree on that one.

Bruce was sacked under circumstances similar to Mick. It's odd how being
sacked seems to absolve people of shortcomings and they are back in the
jobs market.

If you scratch Bruce, I'll scratch Warnock.

I hope they go for someone from Europe or someone young who is unexpected.

Whoever they choose, I'd say there will be a pretty big bonus involved
for keeping us up.

So many names being banded about

Bruce is a real chance...moving back to the Midlands apparrantly

Curbishly---a lot of people favourite, certainly did the business with
Charlton for a number of years

I reckon either Curbishly or someone totally out of the blue...this
little situation must have been thought about for quite some
timeannouncement by the weekend I reckon.

Roger Johnson, the Wolves captain, has suggested that the players are
largely responsible for McCarthy's dismissal. Johnson has endured a poor
season since joining from Birmingham City in the summer and when he was
asked how much blame the players should take for McCarthy's sacking, he
replied: "All of it. The manager can maybe take five to 10%."

Young Roger not only gives 110% on the pitch but in the blame game as well.

I intend to criticize the new manager from day one, regardless of the facts.

I did point out that new managers get a short honeymoon which is followed by
a revertion to the previous position. The only problem is you have to sack
your manager each season. Maybe it will work for us this season.

Here's how I see it playing out.

   - New manager appointed who starts playing different players.
   - Realises after a few games that the players on the fringe of the team
were no good after all and goes back to the original players that Mick used
   to play.
   - Wolves sink into the relegation zone and players start lining up a
move for next season having no loyalty to Morgan or the club anymore.
   - Wolves get relegated and sell the best players, some to Mick who has
just got Leeds promoted via the playoffs.
   - Manager has no idea or stomach for getting promotion on a limited
   budget imposed by Morgan.
   - Manager gets sacked in November with Wolves in the bottom half.
   - Morgan starts taking money out of the club and then sells it on whilst
appointing and dismissing a range of different managers
   - Wolves flirt with the bottom end of the division and eventually get
relegated after the new owners are shown to be insolvent
   - Mick takes Leeds to a cup win.

I intend to criticize the new manager from day one, regardless of the facts.

I did point out that new managers get a short honeymoon which is followed by

Who would be willing to stick a big bet on that before we appoint a new

RE: [NSWolves] Bet time?

2012-02-14 Thread Rog & Reet
Keep us up?
I was actually hoping to finish top (Plan A scuppered if Manure and Citeh
still have to play one another).
Europe was a fall back position if we get any of the crap refs that plague
the game.

Plan B now scuppered after Steve informed us the honeymoon period is 12
games.

How long does the average honeymoon last?
If it's 6 games we should be almost in Europe with only two more managers.

Yes you are allowed to slag him off now, although maybe you should show some
magnamimity over a vanquished foe?

I intend to criticize the new manager from day one, regardless of the facts.

I did point out that new managers get a short honeymoon which is followed by
a revertion to the previous position. The only problem is you have to sack
your manager each season. Maybe it will work for us this season.

Who would be willing to stick a big bet on that before we appoint a new
manager in support of the fact that the manager has no effect on the teams
performance? I'm quite intrigued by Steve's theory now that Mick has gone.

Also, now that Mick has gone am I allowed to slag him off again?

Sorry, actually 12 games. So three managers per season required.
