I tested the new beta on some 50 Metapost/Metafun graphics. In one case
I had the figures just placed with \useMPgraphic. In the other case the
figures where setup as \startTEXpage. As far as I can see the pictures
look ok.

footers in a mirror manner. Finally insert a blank page right at the
begining; you can use \startTEXpage[width=\paperwidth,
height=\paperheight] and this will not affect the normal
pagenumbering.
Then you can fool context to do what you want.
