You meant "\nolist”. I am sure there are more obsolete command pages, but they
are not easy to find. I edited this page by using the also obsolete \couplepage
as an example.

The command was removed because you can set different texts for the
header, list or bookmarks with the \star
I tried similar examples from the manual and these fail even more badly:

Exactly what the error message tells you, the command \nolist is not defined in
MkIV.
You can find a solution to a similar problem here:

\nolist{}, I understand, is used in headings and presumably in captions

canonical way would be to add information to an entry in a list of

Another command that disappeared from MkIV is \nolist (to exclude
parts of a title from a table of contents).
What's its replacement?

Hi,
I remember Henning was fighting with this quite a while ... but
eventually this was solved, wasn't it?
Shouldn't the following give NO textellipsis in the TOC:

punctuation in titles.
Enclosing the period in braces {.} did work and is a temprorary solution
but the problem need to be solved.

You can use the \nolist{} command within the caption for parts, that shouldn't
go in the list of figures:
f.ex:
