2nd winter/summer Glaucous Gull at Mecox this afternoon. The bird was roosting

Sandpipers at this same location on 4/2. There was also an eBird report from
Phil Uruburu on 4/3 where he reported 9. So the flock has grown considerably
since yesterday.
There certainly appears to be some great shorebird habitat developing since the
opening of the spillway.

of the west jetty. Other gulls of note were 2 Iceland and 1 Glaucous Gull, all
three appeared to be 1st cycle individuals.

There was just a Lapland Longspur traveling with a flock of about 20 Snow
Buntings in the Field 7 parking lot at Hecksher State Park.
The flock is very mobile and the blustery conditions seem to be keeping them on
the move. They were last seen heading west toward Field 6.

Its a bit of a hike to access the peninsula but it is well worth it. Kayaks are
also acceptable but you must carry down a small hill to reach to reach the
waters edge. If the parking lot is full, do not park along the road side as you
will get ticketed.

The Hudwit just took off with a group of about 20 Black-bellied Plovers. It
flew directly toward the ocean, across the barrier beach. Sorry for the bad

The Hudwit just took off with a group of about 20 Black-bellied Plovers. It
flew directly toward the ocean, across the barrier beach. Sorry for the bad
news for folks that were headed here.

It currently east of Road I (east of Ponquogue Bridge).

Just to clarify:
Road L is the second parking area west of Ponquogue Bridge. It is actually
incorrectly listed as "Road K" on Google Maps.
The bird continues in the cove just across from Road L. Both roads are posted
on Dune Rd and you can't miss it.
