[onap-discuss] [OOM] common Helm Chart conventions

2018-04-06 Thread LUNANUOVA, DOMINIC (DOMINIC)
I played a bit with the common/postgres chart, and understand it is a WIP.
But have some questions:

- Should we expect a common chart to deploy in the same namespace as
the app requiring  it?

Specifically, I found postgres deploys to default namespace, while my pod
deployed in onap namespace.

- Should a service ever deploy to default namespace? And if this is
allowed, does it imply that it is a "shared" service (i.e. used by more than 1
parent chart)?

When I attempted helm install local/onap I observed several (non-common)
services, secrets and configmaps all in default namespace.

- Are there any access rule in Kubernetes that impact the naming
convention for locating a service in another namespace?

Specifically, I discovered my pod in onap namespace could not connect to host
"pgset" but it could connect to "pgset.default". Yet when I asked others if
this should be necessary, they said no.

Thanks,
-Dom

Re: [onap-discuss] [integration] External Labs Jenkins Job question

2018-04-06 Thread Gary Wu
On the general process:

At https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Integration+Test+Labs it shows the current
owner of each Integration tenant in the Wind River lab.

Currently Integration-Jenkins and Integration-Stable are dedicated to automated
deployment testing, and are completely re-deployed using latest code every 6
hours.

For the other tenants, there’s no automatic redeployment. Instead, please
coordinate with the owners in the above link to see if a redeployment is
desired or an individual VM should be re-initialized.

We usually would do a re-install from scratch but we are holding off so
projects can debug in some cases.
During this pair wise test phase if you have a new docker available in nexus
feel free to pull it down to the SB-07 environment (Helen/Gary correct me if I

But the intent of pair wise is for you to quickly get through your tests (and

[onap-discuss] ONAP-OOM Deployment Error

2018-04-06 Thread Pulkit Walia
Hi All,

I need some help related to ONAP Deployment.
I am trying to deploy ONAP on VMware Integrated OpenStack 4.0 with Kubernetes
and I have been facing an error with it.

I am using the following for ONAP deployment:

  * VMware Integrated OpenStack 4.0 with Kubernetes
  *   Helm v2.7.0
  *   Kubectl v1.7.0
  *   ONAP-OOM Repository http://gerrit.onap.org/r/oom

I enabled all the components as true in the oom/kubernetes/onap/values.yaml
file except the portal component, it was disabled.
During this configuration, the deployment was successful using Helm.

But the problem arises when I enable portal component as true in the yaml file.
The deployment is unsuccessful and I get the following error:

[cid:image001.png@01D3CDBD.925D2FD0]

In the above screenshot, after a successful deployment I am upgrading the
deployment after enabling the portal component in the yaml file. After that,
"data: Too Long: ..." error is triggered always, in all the versions of Helm.
I think the portal components is flooding the Kubernetes ConfigMap with large
amount of data that it is unable to handle.

The kubectl and helm version screenshot is as follows:

[cid:image002.png@01D3CDBF.0A9B16A0]

I have a few doubts/questions regarding this, they are as follows:

  * Is this a known issue in ONAP Deployment?
  * Is the portal component responsible for this error?
  * Is this an issue related to Helm v2.7.x?
  * Is this an issue related to Kubectl Version?
  * Is this caused due to VMware Integrated OpenStack with Kubernetes 4.0?
  * Is this caused due to lack of RAM in the Master and Worker Node Instances
? (Right now, each of the instance has 32 vCPUs, 128 GB RAM, 256 GB Size)
  * If not due to one of the reasons above, then what is the cause of this
error?

It will be really helpful if someone from the ONAP Community can put some of
their suggestions on this, or someone who has faced the same issue and knows
the solutions to this error.

Re: [onap-discuss] [onap-tsc] ONAP-OOM Deployment Error

2018-04-06 Thread Mandeep Khinda
Hi Pulkit,
The OOM team noticed this and created a defect to track the fix which is
currently a top priority and has a gerrit review outstanding. I believe it
will be wrapped up and merged today.
https://jira.onap.org/browse/OOM-858

The root cause is this: portal has a sql file that is extremely large because
it contains images (binary data).
This is exhausting the config map space so we have removed it and found an
alternate way of injecting it in the portals db instantiation. The fix can
also be used to reduce other config maps that really do not need to be part of
the helm package. This was important to us to ensure that it is not just a
band-aid fix specific to one app.

How to determine consumerGroup and consumerId?

May they have any values?

I have found that there is exposed REST API that enables registering consumer

Consumers has to subscribe to a topic to receive the events. Consumer will
receive the messages published after subscribed to a topic. Subscriber URL

Re: [onap-discuss] ONAP using heat templates

2018-04-06 Thread Beejal Shah

Couple of things:

1. Those heat templates look like the pre-Amsterdam version of ONAP, you
should probably move to R1 (Amsterdam) version:

https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=demo.git;a=tree;f=heat/ONAP;h=64815cec035a3e9819699309375991f519e9f23e;hb=refs/heads/amsterdam

2. If you are required to go through a proxy server to reach the
internet, then you will have to make updates to the template to define
http_proxy and https_proxy environment variables

Do you VM's have access to the internet. Check the cloud-init logs and see if
there were error messages trying to resolve nexus3.onap.org and the like.

Most likely the VM's are blank becuase the vm_install and vm_init scipts cant
reach the internet (or at least that is the most likely scenario).

Make sure public dns is on your external network.

Ok I did try to update the Policy VM – but it fails to pull images from nexus.
Not sure if the VM is initialized correctly.

We usually would do a re-install from scratch but we are holding off so
projects can debug in some cases.
During this pair wise test phase if you have a new docker available in nexus
feel free to pull it down to the SB-07 environment (Helen/Gary correct me if I
am wrong)
But the intent of pair wise is for you to quickly get through your tests (and
confirmation of checked in fixes)

Integration team,

I’m trying to understand why the windriver and tlab jobs are failing health
check. Yesterday I submitted a fix into integration to ensure its using a
stable release but it still fails. But after digging into the VM it looks like
the Jenkin’s Jobs are using older artifacts.

Doesn’t the Jenkin’s Job go in and update the VM and install the latest
artifacts? Or is the expectation that Project owners go into their VM and
update the VM’s for their project with the latest docker images so the jobs
work? Who owns that whole process?

Thanks,

[onap-discuss] Testing Dmaap locally - problems with reading messages

2018-04-06 Thread Migdal, Marcin (Nokia - PL/Wroclaw)
Hello

I managed to run Dmaap locally with code from master branch.

I am able to list existing queues:

Request:
curl --request GET localhost:3904/topics/listAll
Response:
{"topics": [
{
"owner": "",
"txenabled": false,
"topicName": "msgrtr.apinode.metrics.dmaap"
},
{
"owner": "",
"txenabled": false,
"topicName": "testTopic"
}
]}

Also sending messages to quese seems to work fine:
Request:

curl --header "Content-type: application/json" --request POST --data
'{"message":"messageContent"}' http://localhost:3904/events/testTopic

Response:

{
"serverTimeMs": 2,
"count": 1
}

Also in logs there are entries that message has been published:

""2018-04-06 12:59:09,875 [qtp1555093762-2808] INFO
com.att.nsa.dmaap.service.EventsRestService - Publishing message to topic
testTopic
""2018-04-06 12:59:09,879 [qtp1555093762-2808] INFO
com.att.nsa.cambria.service.impl.EventsServiceImpl - Published 1 msgs in 2ms
for topic testTopic

Now target is to read messages from topic named testTopic

According to:

http://onap.readthedocs.io/en/amsterdam/submodules/dmaap/messagerouter/messageservice.git/docs/Installation/Installation.html

below request should work fine:

curl -H “Content-Type:text/plain” -GET
http://localhost:3904/events/testTopic/CG1/C1?timeout=1000

But it does not work. Also logs confirm that:
2018-04-06 13:03:25.608:WARN:oejh.HttpParser:qtp1555093762-2885: badMessage:
400 for HttpChannelOverHttp@7a1b89e8{r=0,c=false,a=IDLE,uri=-}

>From EventsRestService implementation I can see that request should look like
>as below one:
curl  --request GET localhost:3904/events/testTopic/{consumerGroup}/{consumerId}
But I do not know consumerGroup and ConsumerID.

So question how to read messages from DMaap using DMaap REST API?

Best regards,
Marcin Migdal

Re: [onap-discuss] ONAP using heat templates

2018-04-06 Thread FREEMAN, BRIAN D
Do you VM's have access to the internet. Check the cloud-init logs and see if
there were error messages trying to resolve nexus3.onap.org and the like.

Most likely the VM's are blank becuase the vm_install and vm_init scipts cant
reach the internet (or at least that is the most likely scenario).

Make sure public dns is on your external network.

Re: [onap-discuss] [app-c] appc client library location

2018-04-06 Thread CHO, TAKAMUNE
Hi Ramu,

Thanks again on interested on APPC.

Yes. APPC does support netconf/chef/ansible for VNF configuration as you have
seen in the document.

I would strongly suggest that if you could attend APPC weekly meeting, then you
would get more knowledge for APPC. APPC weekly meeting would be held on 11:00
EST Wed in zoom meeting. For more details meeting information, please refer:

Thank you,

Forgot to reply all, so lost the discussion forum here.
Adding back it.

Hi Taka,
Once again thanks for your kind response.
As per APP-C doc it says it supports netconf/chef/ansible.
Wondering what all are the options we have to do the VNF configuration?

best regards,
Ramu

Re: [onap-discuss] AAI inventory update after onboarding / instantiation on openstack using SO API

2018-04-06 Thread Ullas Kumar Kotrappa Yereseemi
Hello Jimmy,

Thanks for the details , that did gave some more information but still the
information on the Host and IP of the VNF was not available as part of the AAI
Call ( I tried the depth 3 and greater than 3 as well) . As part of the VNF
Module Initialization call via SO.

http://{ONAP_MSO}ecomp/mso/infra/serviceInstances/v4/{instance_id}/vnfs/{VNF_ID}vfModules

The response for the above call for VNF creation was the instance ID. How can
we get what information updated to AAI as part of the VNF Module creation API
call.

Regards,
Ullas

Hi, Ullas,

If you want to see objects that are contained by the vnf, I suggest setting the
depth= query parameter. By default depth is set to 0, meaning only fetch the
given object and not objects that it contains.

Example:
https://{ONAP_AAI}/aai/v11/network/generic-vnfs/generic-vnf/b8f1c9ed-a14d-4a32-8f34-a4eefef559e4?depth=3

Hello Steve,

Thanks for the response. However, we could not get any details as part of the
get VNF Details call.

PFB the response we got after VNF was successfully instantiated on Openstack.
Is there any other way to check what is updated on AAU as part of the service
instantiation call from SO ?
