Could some one please tell me why various openDX processes want Internet
access (when I launch DX) and at what point it is safe to disconnect?
Some of these processes are: STARTUPUI.EXE, TUTOR.EXE, DXUI.EXE, DXEXEC.EXE.

I note that the example Message Window on p. 99 of Paths to Visualization says
Memory cache will use 112 MB ..., in contrast to the 24 MB that appears
when I run a program.
Is this a limitation of the PC implementation or do I have an incorrect
config file or something?

which n is MB? Ordinarily, the default takes 7/8 of physical memory.
I've not seen the second problem. What version of DX and platform are you

I have a sudden, serious problem with cygwin openDX (Win98). The Image
window will now only appear in one of two states: minimised or maximised.
Rebooting did not help!
Is it mad at me for something? Is there a config file I can edit?

I have set 'Allow Rendering' and specified 300 DPI for the EPS files. This
currently restricts me to images of about 2 square, to avoid the memory
problems; this, too, is unacceptable.
