Where does the network come in?

You can send your position from your GPS but you'll need to work out how to

I've replaced one of my older tablets with a new new one so redownloaded
OSMand paid for version.
The price seems to have gone up substantially as its now seems to be a

clearance.
However I recently plotted a route and the path it selected involved a path
through a park that went down a gulley, so very steep up and down portions,
and additionally it was earth so after some recent rainfall the bac
like to use but thanks for the suggestion. I'll pull it into the
device and see how it does when I play with it.

Brouter is fast and can be run on a smartphone. It is dedicated to
routing. However it does take up resources so on a slower phone or one
without so much memory OSMAND will still run without Brouter.
OSMAND gets the routing job done. It might not be the fastest on the
planet but it works.
Network Browser an Android app can be useful in no cables are required.

If you purchased it through the Google app store any device that has the
same Google name will be able to install it.

Looking at the base data in JOSM the building has no number attached.
Time to add some building numbers I suspect.
OSM Nominatim is a separate program that things like JOSM use and has
it's own idiosyncrasies. For many years it only used UK postcodes not
Canadian ones.

Success but it would appear that I can only edit certain nodes ie those
designated POI by OSMand. For instance I am unable to add a postcode to a
house even though it is a node in OSM.
Interesting it could be done with good documentation but the buildings
would need some sort of node that OSMand
I think the most pertinent point is the indexes change so if you want
everything to work with the latest version you need to recreate the .obf
file.

So if you have a wifi router you can pull the data file in over wifi and
save your data budget. You may have to configure the phone to turn off the
over air connection. If you don't try an internet cafe but you may need a
browser to get past the agreement front page.

The native file type of OSMAND .obf contains indexes and I suspect contains
a subset of what is in a .pbf file. You can generate a .obf file from a
.pbf file using the mapcreator associated with osmand.

The maps are version dependant. So a new map will probably not work with
an old version. You can create your own.

the part of California you want followed by using mapcreator
