Funny, i DO have digital photos from 1997, from my Kodak DC25.
They are on my old 486 hard drive and backed up on my iomega zip
drive. Wonder if i can get it to read on the XP computer, and, most
important, find the software to convert the dc files to a jpeg.

The flower looks like a Yellow Wood Sorrell, but the greenery definitely
isn't.
As to the image, I'd eliminate about a quarter of the image from the RH
side - it detracts from the rest of the image.

Not quite.
I keep a warming gel or two around for exactly the case of needing
fill when shooting under mixed flourescent or tungsten with flash.
Saves a bit of work in correction color balances afterwards. Haven't
used them very much though, since I use flash so infrequently.

About banding at 1600ISO David Savage observed, Downsizing sharpening for
web sometimes highlight it.
I wonder, does the downsizing and sharpening highlight the banding, or
introduce it? When I put Ken's picture, which BTW is a cracking good shot,
into PhotoME to read its entire exif data I saw
