I've only one non-Pentax lens that I am actively using and enjoying it
every single bit. It is Tamron 28-75/2.8 (letter soup omitted) that I
bought from a fellow list member. It suits me perfectly when shooting
events in Galia's class and if I have to have a zoom lens mounted on my
camera. In

impressive!

I have the Sigma 300 F4 APO. Its a very good third party in my

My most used third part lens is a 300/2,8 adaptall. Also got a Serie 1
70-200/3,5 macro. The Viv haven't seen much light.
Also got a hoodless Viv 28/2. Used it a lot in my anal days. Haven't
used it on digital until last weekend. Results are promising so far.
Think I'll look up a hood for it. Any

1. Sigma 30mm f1.4 for low-light work; it can produce some
super-elegant shots, but damn it's challenging, the depth-of-field
wide open is such that you can capture only half the hairs on a gnat's
ass. See http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2007/11/15/Sigma-30mm-F1-4

My philosophy regarding third party lenses is simple.
I only buy them when its either something that Pentax
never made in the first place, like a fl, zoom range, or
lens speed that's significantly different. OR, those very rare cases
where
the third party lens is somewhat affordable and the Pentax
The Voightlander SL and SLII series lenses have to be my favourites. I
own both the 40/2 Pancake and 58/1.4 in Nikon mount.
I'm also fond of the Tamron SP Adaptalls and currently own the 17/3.5
and 90/2.5 macro with a bunch of AD2 mount adapters in KA, AI, C/Y and
FD versions.

That would be a screw mount Russian lens- the mighty Jupiter 9, 85mm f2.
I found used at a camera show. And a Pentax lens hood at the show,
sized for 85 100mm lenses.

And, with an adapter, I can use it on my Canon cameras.
