Barry,
I brought two K-7 to South Georgia and Antarctica in December. Here's
a bit of what they were exposed to:

It just kept working. And also important, it handled the change from
this outdoor conditions to the warm interior of a ship

If so, how do you

Hmm. I might have just been unlucky. I was certainly very happy when it

LOL yeah the guy has a free mind... who needs design anyway =)
Mine is a RRS 55mm ballhead with a lever-clamped quick-release.

Looks nice like it can hold its own. Like the double portrait cutouts.

Hey Folks,
Im upgrading from a K10. I do serious botanical photography for stock
illustrations. Other than the obvious difference in pixels, are there any
thoughts on the difference between the K7 vs the Kx? Really, I shoot
almost exclusively in Av, and other than using the DOF preview, the
Do you need high ISO performance? The K-7 is tops over ISO 800, but
the K-7 is the model to go for if you don't need the best high ISO
performance possible.
By the sound of it you're working on a tripod, so I'd almost assuredly
go for the K-7 since the K-x lacks support for a wired remote

If you're doing macro work, the K-7 with it's pentaprism is likely to be
more easily manually focused, the Body is environmentally sealed, more
or less like the K10D and the DOF preview can be set up to work like the

Hey Larry,
Thanks for your comments.
I am unfamiliar with any water resistance features on the K-7, but it
has any, it would be a huge plus. I do a lot of work in wet conditions,
and while I use a rain hood when I can, accidents DO happen.
Indeed, while I was on this recent trip, a VERY well
The K-7, like the K10D, is fully weather sealed. The DS is not
weather-sealed. Water on the back of the K10D should not cause any
problems, the 4-way is a sealed unit. When I had the K10D I shot it in
proper downpours multiple times without issue (It's not really up to
immersion though, although a
Hey Adam,
Well, after this rainstorm, my camera certainly was malfunctioning for a
while. When I turned it on, it would instantly record an image, then the
stop-down DOF preview feature would engage several times.
Hmmm...now I think about it, these are features associated with the
shutter

That's not my experience at all. I have had 2-hour shoots in pouring and
blowing rain with nary a hiccup from my K10D.

That's another issue, Bob - I will have to include AC adapters and DC-AC
inverters in the plan. Didn't see it coming... margin getting smaller

It should be able to. I do not uise the K-7 under heavy sun however,
dunno how it would react (no, I didn't read anything bad about that
btw). The K-7 will stop at whatever comes first: 4GB barrier or 30
minutes.

Folks, in the K-7 and K-x, is the video capture continue up to the card
space, or does the camera stops at inconvenient moments?? I understand
the clip limit under FAT32 is 4gb, bit can the cameras just move to the
