I've used this feature on flash units very occasionally, mostly
because in most cases I find it easier to manual focus in dim light
rather than rely on *any* autofocus system.
Trigger voltage is the static voltage across the sync terminals of the

The Current Pentax Digital Flashes AF360 and the AF540 have Spot Beams
or Focus Assist. The Spot Beam Focus Assist is described on page 55 of
the AF360 Manual. (Ahem.)
The first two are available NEW and also Used several places. And they
are Pretty! Which should count for something.

Holiday is coming up, and I'm planning on some photo sorting, having hundreds
of shots untouched. This raises questions.
The pix (DNG files) and the Lightroom catalog are on a (Mac) desktop. My laptop
also has LR.
I was thinking of doing this:
1. On the desktop, open the catalog, select all
What I've done if I need AF assist in the dark is to take the flash
off the camera and use the pop-up flash for AF. I use my OK button to
focus, and the flash fires FA pulses to help it focus. Then I push
the flash down and fire away with good focus.

The laptop is also Mac (OS 10.5).
I'm planning to do grading, deleting, keywording, editing, converting to jpg,
etc. That's why the transfer back to the desktop seems a bit tricky--some pix
will be missing, and a lot will be changed.
