Heh … Mine is usually set to about 46". Longer than that and the camera sits too low, swings around too much for me. :) I have anchors fitted to most of my cameras, so I just swap the Leash to whatever I need to use it on. (I actually have three of them, for tripods and second camera carry…).

I looked at that project. The neat part of the base plate is that it takes the load off the standard lugs (not designed for that kind of carry) and puts the load at the base which allows the camera to lay flat more reliably. It's primarily targeted to work with an SLR or largish EVF camera's
