I would get the II. The F allows open aperture metering only if you use SMC Takumar lenses. The meter on the F always is on. You turn it off using the lens cap. You can use older Super Takumars and SMC Takumars on the II. Metering is stop down. Of course, there are lots of other M42 mount

Recently retired as a library assistant. I shoot 35mm using an LX and ES II. Use a 645 Pentax for my medium format stuff, mainly weddings. Would have gone with a *ist D but it had a crippled mount, as some obeservers have noted. I love shooting with slide film as opposed to prints. Jim A.
