Hope this option will work with the original 645 and not just the later
models. But I will wait for the smaller insert when and if it materializes.

Go for it, Cotty. I am glad you decided to move over to a company that is
producing a DSLR. I, for one, am tiring about all the speculation about
Pentax and a dslr. If those PDMlers who have lots of Pentax stuff which
keeps them from going to Kodak, Canon,Nikon, or Fuji, sell it and go for the
Pentax does produce the Optio digitals.
That doesn't sound like Pentax is turning its back to its subscribers in the
digital community. Need a DSLR check out Nikon, Canon, Fuji, or Kodak.
Lots to choose from. Sell your Pentax stuff. I might be interested.

The last time I purchased a Pentax new was back in the early 70's when I
purchased a chrome model ES II. Today, I received a Pentax Optio 230 from
BH. BH had a better price so I decided to go for the 230. Anyone on
the list own one?

I am tired of the speculation regarding if or when Pentax will sell a dslr. Since
none exists why don't we restrict any mention of a dslr on one day only, say Friday.
Pentax users of the PS digitals can write about those anytime since they do exist.
Fridays can be fantasy DSLR day.

For such a heavy lens - what tripod brand did you use?

I have an Optio 230. Not the same as owning a Canon D30. The sharpness is
excellent in the D30. I like the softness in the film image. I would a
purchase a Pentax dslr if the price were to go lower than $1,000 and I could
adapt my SMC Takumars to it

I carry a Cullmann Magic II tripod. That's really cheap. It's packed in my
VW Eurovan Weekender. Sometimes I forget I have it there and bring my
Tiltall tripod with me for a shoot. I like the Cullmann because it is light
to carry.

I look for something interesting to use for a Christmas card. The picture
for this season's card was taken last May when Kows for Kids was in town.
I slapped a Santa cap on the head of a blue face kow and took a close up
of it. When I had the card made up on couple of weeks ago I had this
I like the SF1-n because you can get an adapter to use double A batteries to
power the camera. The PZ1-p doesn't have an adapter although there was some
talk that someone was making a grip for the PZ1-p that would take double
A's. Never heard anymore about it.

When the new Pentax dslr comes out next year I suspect a lot of 35mm
equipment is going to be sold. There might be some good bargains out there.
