I don't remember whether you have a laptop or not, but you might be able to use
a program called "PK_Tether" to connect your K5 to your computer & use the
computer as a remote. It's freeware/donation ware; use at your own risk.

I took a quick look at it, but it doesn't include a user's guide, so I don't
know yet how to hook it up. I'll let you know if/when I ever figure it out.

Re: Pentax k-70 - damn! now I'm in trouble!

2018-07-06 Thread ann sanfedele

actually, no... though thanks for the thought.
I had one years ago... I found it a bit of a PITA..   The flipout with
the live viewworked for me with the Canon not just for the studio stuff
but outside too..

I just have to figure out how to sell the K5 but not deliver it until I
get the K-70 and I think this will still not be possible until December.

something to look forward to :-)

Re: Pentax k-70 - damn! now I'm in trouble!

2018-07-05 Thread ann sanfedele

Dale - only been using Pentax for 50 years :-)

When I finally decided to slowly transition to digital from my sweet LX,
I I got a little p&S Canon that had the flip screen.. then went to a
Powershot pro-1 (while still doing a lot of film photography) I took it
on a long cross country trip in 2005.  Loved it foreverything .. stealth
shooting,

ground level  shooting teeny tiny plants ...etc..

It will be difficult enough for me to put together the funds for the
body anytime soon... I too have a golden oldy prime 50mm smc but it is a
mess and I use it as  loupe  . Still use a 28 mm occasionally, but the
DA18-55 will have to do me for quite a while.

Yesterday I had to photograph a couple of horizontal boards in an electronic
instrument. This is a big beast and it was a lot easier to hold the K-70 above
the workbench and look at the screen than to maneuver the instrument so the
boards would be vertical and facing forwards.

I have also used the screen in the field when shooting something in the
distance with the camera held just above ground level, looking underneath some
obstructing bushes..
