I'm not sure the fix, setting that = 0 is the best option.
nodejs themselves manually patched their bundeled version of v8 specifically

It's not so clear that the recent workaround for REPLACE_INVALID_UTF8 is
such a good idea. In general, this sort of thing has the potential to lead
to security problems.

This was partially my "fault", I asked requirejs to fix bug #845158 and they
did, but of course other packages in Debian would still be using the old name.
