I've just verified the hunch posted over at GetSatisfaction regarding
adding audio_enable_norm:0 to the Spotify settings file. It does
disable volume normalisation on Intel! (Tested on Linux x86_64 with
v1.4.2 of the plugin.)

Probably Onebrowser related as well, More Info (plus key from
Controller, or right arrow on Touch) on Spotify track returns a blank
dialog. Expect multiple options, beginning with Remove from playlist,
etc. etc.

is something I quite often use as
a demo disc when I listen to unfamiliar systems. The way the trumpet is
recorded on track 2, Tomorrow, also makes it a very good test track.

format is hard-coded to 16/44.1.) Most computer audio hardware does not
support 24 bits directly so the stream needs to be output to the
hardware at 32 bit (if supported) or down converted to 16 bit, if not.

normalization that kills the SQ. The non-normalized Spotify 320k Ogg
streams really do sound very good. In many cases I haven't been able to
tell the difference between them and the CD rip.

AFAIK, if you have one of the older ip3k players then you need to run a
local SBS and Triode's plugin. Only the Touch and Radio are able to run
without a local instance of SBS using the official Logitech Spotify
plugin.

that's my opinion anyway, having converted lossless to 320k VBR Ogg and
then compared to Spotify equivalent.
Triode, is there any way of turning off the replay gain via the API so
the track streams aren't normalized, just delivered at the original
levels.

to an external DAC and the amp/speakers
I normally use for audiophile listening. (The onboard HDA Intel and
crappy Logitech speakers won't cut it. ie. I'd be hard pressed to tell
the difference between flac and 128k mp3 on this setup.)
