Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeIR - A Generic Infra-Red Remote Control Applet for the Duet's SBC
firmware updates erase all applets from the controller. So you'll have to do it again the next time. I think in the latest applet menu there is an option to reinstall all applets after a firmware update. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hi, I've been using iPeng for a few weeks now and really enjoy the functionalities it has been packed with...:) In this sense I already prefer it over the SBC to control my SBR and radio. However, I have noticed a couple of issues: 1. In general the application responds a lot slower to commands than Duet's SBC. Quite often the playback commands (play, pause, volume) take several seconds (5-10) to respond, also the same behavior can be witnessed with the now playing screen, playlist, tuning of teh device etc. Is there something I could do to speed it up (both SBC and iPod3G connect to a Buffalo WLAN router to which the SBR is also connected, with wire. SqueezeServer 7.5. is running on Qnap ts209 II NAS)? Commands sent through SBC do not have a mentionable delay. 2. A few times iPeng has not been able to find the players (SBR, Radio). In these cases I've had to shutdown the iPod to find the players again. Two occasions when this has happened is when the iPod was recharging over night and I tried to use iPeng in the morning. A couple of other times it has happened with no apparent reason, though I don't know if the recharging can be any kind of reason either (might be that on one occasion I restarted SB Server and after that it did not find the players until iPod shutdown and restared) Has anyone else witnessed this kind of behaviour and is there something I can do in my setup to make it a bit more realiable (although is not so bad if you once a week need to restart the iPod...:) ) Can I do something else than turning off the iPod in case it does not automatically find players I have not done any manual setups, the iPeng (as expected I guess) found the palyer and started working out of the box when I downloaded it. SB Server and SBR have static ip addresses in my LAN. -- Nautilus Nautilus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19856 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.5 Package Upgrade Question
This is a question I have asked on the Synology forum and as yet have no response. So, if there are any Synology users out there that can answer this, I would greatly appreciate it. Generally the header information is constant for all of the remote's commands and is stored in the pre_data part of the lirc file. The commands themselves are generally sequential and are generally 8-bit numbers so will be in the range 0x00-0xFF. Many protocols also use a checksum which is calculated from the command value and LIRC files store this in the code section along with the command value itself so the commands may not look sequential in the lirc file. Another thing that muddies the water is that lirc files often encode the commands backwards masking the true value so that sequential command values may appear random when expressed in a lirc file. -- indifference_engine indifference_engine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20698 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79524 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
1. Your Qnap is probably still rescaling artwork for iPeng. It needs to do this because iPeng uses different thumbnail sizes than the Controller. And iPeng does ask the server to create up to 450 of them in a bulk when originally started. Now not having a floating point processor the Qnap can be pretty challenged with this task. It will eventually go away if you don't do Clear and Rescan of the database too often (this clears not only the cache in iPeng but also the one on the server side). You could also set (on the server side) Settings-Advanced-Performance-Arwork resampling to resize (faster, lower quality). 2. This usually happens whenever the WiFi is not up and running when iPeng starts. It will find the players after a while but usually it should be enough to just re-start iPeng. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
I'd like to announce an early beta of a plugin I have been working on for Spotify Premium subscribers to browse and play Spotify streams through Squeezebox players. Scope: - for Spotify users with a Premium account - plays back 320k or 160k streams - requires a PC based server running Squeezebox server (linux or windows only at present) - will play back via Squeezebox 2 and later hardware players only - only supports a single playback stream (one player) at once, i.e. no synchronisation support The plugin is early beta, so I expect some rough edges, but I am posting to get feedback on interest level and to help further development. Note that the plugin is somewhat more complex than a standard squeezebox server plugin so it will take longer to download than normal plugins and there may be more issues which I have been unable to test... If you are a Spotify Premium subscriber, then to try it out: 1) Make sure you are running 7.5 or 7.5.1 Squeezebox server 2) Go to the Settings/Plugin page and add the following to the additional repositories box at the bottom of the page, press apply: http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml 3) Assuming you are running your server on windows or linux, you should then get an additional repository in the list which includes Spotify as an installable plugin 4) Select and click to install, note that it may take longer than normal to fetch the plugin as it is bigger than a normal plugin so the page make take longer to respond 5) Restart the server 6) Go to the Plugin, Settings page for Spotify either via the advanced menu or from the plugin page 7) Read and agree the Spotify restrictions, then add your username and password to the settings page. 8) If you refresh the settings page a couple of times you should see that a helper appl is running an it is logged into Spotify. If not there may be an error to help... 9) Go to the radio menu on one of your hardware players and you should be able to browse and play tracks from Spotify Linux: The binary files included in the plugin include the Spotify library libspotify and a closed source application built around this. This is 32bit only so on 64 bit linux you probably need ia32-libs installed and probably libFLAC and libogg as well. Windows: The binary is 32bit and should work on 64bit as well. I have not tried it on all versions of windows, so there may be some issues so please report. Please provide feedback and let me know if this plugin is interesting to people... -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

It will eventually go away if you don't do Clear and Rescan of the database too often (this clears not only the cache in iPeng but also the one on the server side). You could also set (on the server side) Settings-Advanced-Performance-Arwork resampling to resize (faster, lower quality). Thanks for the tip - I did not know that the artwork rescaling process would have such an effect on all these commands sent through iPeng. Better not do the clear and rescan too often then... pippin;554982 Wrote: 2. This usually happens whenever the WiFi is not up and running when iPeng starts. It will find the players after a while but usually it should be enough to just re-start iPeng. Yeah, I also thought that if I restart the application a couple of times it would eventually find the players. However, on the mentioned occasion even several restarting did not help, only after turning off the whole device it found then again. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Triode;555020 Wrote: Please provide feedback and let me know if this plugin is interesting to people... Well, it's the biggest enhancement to my Squeezebox experience for a very long time, so it's definitely VERY interesting to me. It's worth every dollar I had to spent on the Spotify Premium account to make it work. This is one of those plugins that's totally going to change how I find new music and listen to it. Really great work with this, thanks for all your efforts. Just for convenience, I'll mention the issues you have already got via mail earlier which haven't been solved yet, just to avoid duplicate reports from other users and make it possible for other beta testers to comment on them. There isn't anything in this list which you haven't already seen. THE WEB INTERFACE: 2. It would be nice to get album art in search results, at least in album lists, is that possible ? It works on SqueezePlay but not in web interface. 3. It would be nice with a Play button beside albums in search result, should the the same as the All songs item in the sub menu, possibly an add button might be nice too. 4. Would it be possible to add functionality so you can build a Spotify playlist and save it to spotify ? 5. If possible, I would prefer that search results was rendered the same way as in standard library. So album lists shows the album and artist as separate clickable links and track lists shows the track, album and artist as separate clickable links. This would make it really easy to switch between the different search types, for example start by searching for a known track and then click on the artist list of one of the matches to list all albums for that artist. 6. It would be nice with a Play button beside a playlist in search result, should the the same as the All songs item in the sub menu, possibly an add button might be nice too. 7. Similar to point 5 it would also be nice if I could see artist and album information in current playlist for each track, currently it only displays the track title and album cover. 8. After adding a track as a favorite it looks a bit strange in when expanding Favorites menu in default skin, it looks ok in classic skin. I suspect it might have to do with a missing icon or something similar. The Spotify entry in the screenshot is the DSBridge connection, it's the Love Doesn't Ask Why entry that's the one connected to your plugin. Here is the screenshot: http://erland.isaksson.info/arkiv/slimserver/SpotifyFavorite.png SQUEEZEPLAY INTERFACE: === 10. Would it be possible to add a Similar artists on Spotify item in the context menu on all artists (local and spotify) that listed the Similar Artists from spotify ? That way it would more user friendly to find similar music as the one you already have in the local library without having to revert to searching that needs you to enter text. Enter text works good on touch interface but not so good on Radio, Boom, Controller and Touch IR-remote interface. 11. Would it be possible to add a Albums on Spotify item in the context menu on all artists (local and spotify) that listed albums for the specified artist from spotify ? That way it would more user friendly to find new music from artists you already have in the local library without having to revert to searching that needs you to enter text. 12. Is it possible to control the rendering of album lists ? It would be nice if albums where shown on multiple lines in same way as My Music/Albums menu lists albums 13. Is it possible to control the rendering of track lists ? It would be nice if tracks where shown on multiple lines in same way as current playlist lists tracks 14. To make searching a bit better, it would be nice if it remembered the last 20 search texts I've used so I could reuse them without having to enter all the letters manually again. 15. In addition to point 14, maybe it could even remember which Spotify artists/albums you have listen to before and the ones in your Spotify playlsits and make it possible to browse among those by Albums or by Artists/Albums ? OTHER THINGS: 16. It doesn't work with synchronized players or multiple players by design, so if any user have problem with that, it's a limitation of the Spotify API as I've understood it. It might be a good idea to give a better error/warning message if someone tries to use multiple players. IPENG INTERFACE == 19. In iPeng the Spotify icon in the Radio menu isn't shown, it just shows the default radio icon. 20. In the What's new menu I have some problem in iPeng if it's only a single track. It works for multiple tracks but for entries that only have a single track I just get the heading and not the clickable track itself. The heading contains the track title but I cannot click on the heading to play it. After some time I realized I can hit Play Shuffle at the top to play the track. 21. Album lists doesn't show the album cover in iPeng. It works

The last works, but the experience does not give credit to what a real squeeze-box/player/server experience would give. Well, I can only talk about SqueezeCommander: I'm working on an integrated player for Squeeze Commander. The short term solution will probably be an enhanced stream.mp3, i.e. the player will connect to the stream.mp3, but I will try to avoid some problems of the stream.mp3 like high latency. The major disadvantage will still be the need for a quite powerful CPU on the server side, i.e. a NAS without FPU will probably not work. The long term solution is to implement a real Squeeze player. But I'll wait until Pippin finished his work for iPeng and afterwards I'll adopt his solution. ;-) -- flattermann Christian Home of 'SqueezeCommander' (http://www.squeezecommander.com) - The SqueezeBox Remote Control App for Android flattermann's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33169 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62581 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The problem is that I am using IRBlaster to control my Reciever through my Ipod Touch (Ipeng). Is there any possibility to get around this problem? (other than using the regular remote control for the Reciever =) Thanks in advance! Regards Majtchus Well, that's probably not what you'd like to hear, but AFAIK it's impossible to use IRBlaster (or any plugin) through MySB. So you basically have the choice between SBS (with IRBlaster) and MySB (without being able to control your receiver). If you want to use MySB only, you'll probably need to use your receiver's remote for on/off and the digital volume control on the SqueezeBox (i.e. disable fixed volume). -- flattermann Christian Home of 'SqueezeCommander' (http://www.squeezecommander.com) - The SqueezeBox Remote Control App for Android flattermann's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33169 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79692 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Kidsplay - Radio max. kidsplayvolume not applicable
doubleugk;554870 Wrote: I've set the kidsplayvolume max. value to 50, but it has no effect on the SBR. Is there any other setting that I need to consider to achive an application on the SBR? The max min only apply to the kidsplayvolume CLI command. For instance if you set Preset #1 to decrease the volume with kidsplayvolume -5 and Preset #2 to increase the volume with kidsplayvolume +5, then pressing either of those buttons would never result in a volume outside the KidsPlay min/max range (increasing if needed to reach the min and decreasing if needed to stay under the max). The KidsPlay min max don't apply to changes made with Radio's volume knob. If you want to set a maximum volume that applies to the knob, you can mostly do that with VolumeLock. VolumeLock doesn't completely prevent Radio being turned too loud with the knobs on Radio or an IR remote pointed at Radio, but if someone turns the volume above the VolumeLock max, VolumeLock will pretty quickly turn the volume back down to your max setting. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79688 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Did you ever consider providing a server side UI to do the configuration? I was kind of frightened about the applet due to the install/configuration instructions. It looked time consuming to me, when it wasn't that bad after all (yes, good documentation can have its disadvantages too :-P). Maybe you could add the really short version too: 1. install IR definitions for your remote. 2. create configuration file. 3. install applet. See below for details. I was just too lazy to read it all, assuming there was a lot to do. But eventually, with the help of the sample files, it was rather easy. -- mherger Michael - http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins - AlbumReview, Biography, MusicInfoSCR mherger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79524 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
