Biography and AR send the menu items from the server and the server knows what it is. It just doesn't tell me. That's the concept I talked about. Logitech's idea is that the controller should not know what it's doing but at the same time that means it can't change it an awful lot. It is very noticeable using 7.6 that the the squeezebox service is now running at a constant steady pace (about 9-10% CPU on my PC) whilst custom scanning. [SlimDevices: Plugins] DynamicPlaylist: questions re browsing and saving
So, I've installed both TrackStat and DynamicPlaylist, and am running 7.6.1. my goal is to be able to create *and save* dynamicplaylists based on a combination of genre and playcount, ie never played songs in Jazz Vocal. from the SS web interface, I can browse DynamicPLaylists--Genres--All Genres--Jazz Vocal, and then choose the stat Never Played Songs and load the result into the play queue. works beautifully. however, i cannot find a way to save this result set as a DynamicPlaylist. the only options are Play, or add to queue. 2nd, in any interface other than the web interface, browsing as above stops at All Genres. This true whether I use a Controller, iPeng, and the LT iPad app, or indeed, drill down via the transporter's or Boom's front panel controls. the result is that I can load All genres, but this means i get opera, jazz, classic rock, countryeverything, mixed together in one playlist. not a very satisfying experience. is there a way to enable browsing the full path above via other control interfaces? this would go a long way towards mitigating the inability to save a particular rule set as a DP. thx/netchord -- netchord -- 4 TB Drobo--FW 800--mac mini--Ethernet Transporter-- Wireworld Eclipse 6 coax--Meridian G61 G61-- Nordost Red Dawn--Primare 30.3 Primare--Ocos--Vienna Acoustics Beethoven/Maestro netchord's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21002 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89559 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Many client applications ignore the Search action and instead use only the Browse action to download a local image of the remote content directory into a local database, and then they use their own search algoritms to find things within that local image database. From your description, it sounds like the Revue is doing just this... The benefit is that once the local image is built, the searches can be faster and more sophisticated. I guess I'm not understanding the issue. I create lots of different playlists this way, mostly genre based, and I end up with lots of different (distinct) dynamic playlists saved in the dynamic playlists section under the random/ category. You are CREATING these dynamic playlists within SQL playlists under extras right? Then saving with unique names. Hm, are you trying to install the plugin in 7.6? Generally, that is a bit of an outdated question :) Actually I deprecated the plugin for Squeezebox Server 7.6 since some things would need updating and don't work anymore. Before that, you could install the plugin through the Plugins section in the web interface (Settings-Plugins-3rd Party Plugins, it used to be in the list of recommended plugins then. But actually there's now a native (App Store) App of iPeng for almost three years now. Ok, it's not free, though, but almost nobody still used the web app. Actually if you wanted to use iPeng with 7.6 you would indeed have to install it manually using the zip-file. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

If you want your enhancement request (wishlist) to get noticed you should post it at bugs.slimdevices.com. Although that system is primarily for bugs, it is also the appropriate place to put enhancement requests like this. To be honest, I think the very small dev team has their hands full with much more critical features of the software, so I strongly doubt they'll take up the request. But maybe a 3rd party developer would be interested. So it's good you posted here, too, although seeing only 1-2 responses over the past 4 years, it doesn't exactly look like a hot item. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37186 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm content that I can control when Custom Scans take place (unlike SB scans). People who have custom scans lasting many hours might feel differently. I suspect the background scheduling is more aggressive in 7.6 compared to 7.5 making it prioritize Custom Scan background scanning before handling the music. This is great as long as you don't play music but as you say it causes problem if you like to simultaneously play music. Do I understand correctly that the issue is that you can play music but gets very choppy and isn't possible to listen to ? If so, I'll have to test it in my own environment and see if it would be possible to somehow lower the priority of the background scanning if music is playing. The result will probably be that the scanning when playing music will take more time time but the advantage is that you can enjoy music while it's playing and this is probably preferred by most users. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland).
