If you come up with a solution for this, will you let me know? The
screen posted above by Pommes appears to show this, but I looked at his
code and it specifies ["period":"d1"] which I'm pretty sure is tomorrow.

Windows is using the icon for squeezelite-win, which has only default
icon since that is a console app that SLX runs under the covers. I
might be out of luck there. I wonder if I can use a resource editor to
add an icon to that executable. I'll look into it.

Version 2.1.5 coming soon.

- Handle case where Default Skin is chosen in SLX and Material Skin is
  configured in LMS Interface settings.
- Fixed a possible error when changing skins
- Improve error message when Telnet fails to connect due to client
being on a different subnet and LMS not being password enabled
- No longer uses a persistent cache for its browser. Cache is stored
in memory and is not persistent across SLX restarts. This avoids
issues with updating Material Skin and forgetting to clear browser
cache. SLX will remember the mobile skin page you were on and the
collapsed state of browse pane menu between runs. Cookies (used by
default skin) are also stored persistently on disk. Material Skin
allows you to save its settings, so using this feature of Material
Skin, your settings will be remembered between runs.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty: odd behavior under slow internet

2019-03-13 Thread pavowren

Hello all, I'm one of those cord-cutters whose only internet connection
is a mobile hot-spot.
When t-mo is open full-throttle (up till 10gb), it can clock up to
30mbps or even higher and everything's beautiful.
But when 10gb allotment runs out, the speed goes down to 600kbps and
that's when odd behaviors appear.
It is not an impossible situation but I'm hoping for some explanations.

Here's my setup:
RaspberryPi 3B+ runs squeezlite/jivelite. It has a Allo DigiOne which
feeds into external DAC.
When it works, the sound is absolutely great and I can't imagine it
getting better.
Intel NUCi7 runs LMS 7.9.1 and that's all it runs with local music
stored in SSD.
All devices are on LAN where the local router is hard-wired to a WAP
which connects to the hotspot.

Odd behavior:
1) with Spotty audio set at Extreme (320kbps), gap between songs is av.
50 seconds.
when set at High (160kbps), gap is "normal" anywhere from 1 to 5
seconds.

2) with either setting, if I disrupt the bandwidth by surfing the net
for other activities,
music stops playing at the end of the current song and does not
continue. The Connect device is gone.
Only remedy at this point is to restart LMS; I've made a button for that
purpose.
When LMS comes up, Spotty device appears again, and I activate it to
begin the playback.

Here's some relevant server log:

No problem. I think I understand. The computer is simply locking the
screen, not actually going to sleep. I'm sorry though, I cannot
reproduce anything like this. I would recommend you try the same thing
with a regular browser. For example, while running SLX, bring up a
browser (e.g. Chrome) and navigate to your host (e.g.
hostname:9000/material). Now you are looking at a similar screen,
material skin. See if you observe the same behavior when the computer
locks and you return to desktop.

Another thing...whenever you update the material skin on your server, it
is a good idea to clear the browser cache (see settings) and then
restart SLX.

I'm having a similar issue.

I've uninstalled tcutting's Weather Underground version. ( ::sniff:: )
When I add
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sdt-weather-com/files/repo.xml to the
Plugins page, I get this message at the top

Code:

  Bad repository

And this message in the log.

Code:

I have restarted LMS (7.9.2) several times. I have also restarted my
server (MacOS 10.6.8)

When I use my browser to go to
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sdt-weather-com/files/repo.xml I can
download and open the XML file. I can see that it has 5.9.49 referenced
and the URL.

I manually downloaded the .zip file and copied the contents into the
Plugins directory. Doing so made the SDT plugin appear in the "Installed
Plugins" list.

Not ideal, but at least I got my weather back.

Thank you.

I looked into the issue a bit further. It turns out that in a Linux
environment (LMS running under piCorePlayer on an RPi3, and the player
being pCP on an RPi1B) the lyrics are returned and cached fine when
there are question marks in the file name. An example would be Who
killed Davey Moore? by Bob Dylan. The question mark is not in the file
name, but in the metadata name tag, so the FLAC file name is Who Killed
Davey Moore.flac. The cached lyrics file will then be Who Killed Davey
Moore?.txt.

However, in my other system, with LMS installed under Windows 10 and
Squeezelite-X as a player, the lyrics are neither displayed nor cached
for that particular track, and of course the question mark is not
allowed in file names under Windows. In that situation it would be great
if 1) the track was displayet, and 2) the lyrics file was cached with a
file name where the question mark stripped off.

I can send you the track if you like, but really it should work this way
for any track with a question mark in the song name tag.

For your information, I have tested this with many different tracks with
question marks in the names, and it is the same behaviour for all of
them.

English is not my first language so my bad :)

The computer auto-locks, and after a while the monitor goes off for
power saving. Music still plays. I log in again, first pressing a key on
the keyboard, then my fingerprint reader. I'm back at the desktop. I see
Squeezelite-X still running and playing music. I can also pause and play
again. But I can't see what's actually playing. No such problem with the
default skin.

No, I don't. mp3tag commonly is recommended, but I don't know how well
it can handle lyrics.

Another question is if it is possible to handle songs with a question
mark in their titles? There are quite a few such songs in my library,
and it seems that the lyrics servers do not return anything for these
songs. Perhaps it is possible to strip off the question mark before
submitting data to the servers?

I think they should be stripped off already. Would you have a sample track?

After 1.6.2, Most setting will have no effect if you have a reasonably
modern processor with multiple cores.Format settings are matter of
personal taste but DASH has most facilities (e.g. skip back) but some
programs are in podcast format only (i.e. MP3) so DASH > HLS > MP3 >
FlashAAC should be the default.

If you have problems - first try the equivalent "alt menu" option to
isolate local problem vs BBC/CDN problems.

Definitely because the BBC changes network streams at least a couple of
times a year - sometimes breaking existing facilities. The Plugin page
on your LMS will indicate when a stable update is available.

Interesting thread.

I was also sometimes seeing longish delays at the start of tracks. This
new release certainly seems better (based on feel rather than any
scientific tests).

I read the librespot thread. I listen mainly to Classical music and
'track' lengths of 15-20 minutes are not uncommon. I just selected an 18
minute track and it started in about 3-4 seconds with the new Spotty
version.

As always, many thanks Michael...

Michael and others more knowledgeable than I might be able to provide
more insight, but RP FLAC streams are different than normal net radio
streams. See post #610 in this thread. My issues with the FLAC streams
are so very very infrequent, but when I did have a problem, switching to
a normal stream (like the RP 320kbps) or my library was my "solution".

I think the suspicion (or at least my suspicion) of network or wifi
issues is more the RP FLAC's ability to handle exceptions/interruptions,
as opposed to a LMS issue.

I have streamed the FLAC stations so continuously trying to get an
abnormal situation that I can replicate (trying to help), that I am
starting to realize how often the groovy, rock, mellow mix play the same
songs :).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin

2019-03-13 Thread Michael Herger

I do however have problems with song names or artist names in Danish
language containing the Danish special characters: æøå and their
uppercase variants ÆØÅ.

Generally the plugin does not locate lyrics for these songs - and I
wonder if it is due to the encoding of artist and song names or it is
because the lyrics do not exist in the databases searched?

I think it can be both. I'm seeing similar issues with Swiss music.
Hardly any song would be available from these services. And sometimes
(not always - don't ask for a rule...) the umlauts and accents break.
The two service I'm currently using don't behave the same way. And
sometimes even the data they send back has invalid encryption.

Never mind, I have many of these lyrics in text files already and want
to place them in the user-supplied lyrics folder for being shown on the
controller devices that we use in our house. Again, I need information
on how to encode the names correctly.

Now that's a good question... why don't you embed the files in the tracks?

I'm using a function we have in LMS which would "normalize" many aspects
of names, incl. transliteration for languages like Chinese, Russian etc.
But I wouldn't know by heart what it all does.

Will do but it won't be for a day or two as I won't get access to the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin

2019-03-13 Thread Jens Erik Jensen

I have recently been using the Music & Artist Information plugin quite a
lot - thank you for making it. I am particularly interested in it
because I am a lyrics-oriented person, and I really appreciate the
opportunity to have lyrics shown for the song playing.

Never mind, I have many of these lyrics in text files already and want
to place them in the user-supplied lyrics folder for being shown on the
controller devices that we use in our house. Again, I need information
on how to encode the names correctly.

Can you contribute the necessary information to do this?

I have to agree that networking seems to be involved in this issue in
general, and when I read your post Kees, that's what I thought, and have
been thinking. RP FLAC, and of the four stations can play rock solid for
me for hours, but it seems to not handle network exceptions as well as
say a standard stream. Also, the fact that some have allot of trouble
where others do not, and other inconsistancies, might point to this.

I changed my ISP provider recently (for other reasons), and my
experience is almost 100% fine.

But, we had a significant wind storm here (my ISP is cable, above
ground). The RP FLAC streams would play a few seconds and freeze (I had
to manually restart), the 320 kbps was much better but allot of
rebuffering. I finally got fed up and played from my library.

It may or may not be related, but if I sync and unsync players in the
middle of a FLAC stream it almost never works without a restart, where
the 320kbps or my library works fine.

Just some observations.

Jim

Hi

I'm on 2.1.2 and was hunting for the hover help - it took me a while to
find out that you have to hover the mouse over the option's button,
rather than the option name itself, but even then it doesn't seem to
display reliably.
Any chance the hover area could be expanded a little?
Also a minor nit, the help text is very big - maybe it's because I'm on
a UHD monitor?

But Squeezer is just a controller, not a player. Are you sure Squeezer
is actually controlling the player that's playing to your amp ot TAB or
whatever?

Thanks for your reply. you've giving me a clear hint. Here are my
findings.

Tried Squeezeplay (playing to my PC) side by side with LMS via Chrome
(playing to my Amp).
Squeezeplayer keeps on playing whereas LMS stops after most every block.
Streaming also stops after almost every block using Squeezer on my
android TAB. Those two seem to (inter)act in the same way.

I can't however get Squeezeplay to stream to my Amp, nor can ik get LMS
to play to my PC, or Squeezer to play to my TAB.

It looks like there's some "wake-up call" or synchronisation missing,
when playing to my Amp.
