Depends on when they implemented this limit. Seems like we’re all gonna
get burned by it sooner or later. My API key also is the same as all of

Just happened to me too. Pasting the
URL(https://api.weather.com/v2/turbo/vt1observation?apiKey==e=en-US=json=xx.xx,-yy.yy)
into a browser directly returns the error below. (geo and API data
redacted; copy this URL directly off of your slimserver.pl logs)

Code:

You don't have permission to access
"http://api.weather.com/v2/turbo/vt1observation?; on this server.

I have no idea where the API key embedded in the URL comes from; it is
not asked for in the SuperDateTime setup. But it appears weather.com no
longer accepts it :-(

'http://data.ncaa.com/jsonp/scoreboard/football/fbs/2015/' . $cfbWeek .

This started causing a bunch of 404 errors in the log after midnight

Great; looking forward to that too! As an aside -- for college
basketball, I made a suggestion years ago to include the network (if the
game was going to be on TV) for college basketball, as many times I
would have no clue what network would be showing any given game. Will
this info be retained for CBB in your upcoming fix? It would be cool to
have this for college football too :-)

Check this out:

Code:

  Slim::Display::Graphics::setCustomChar( 'getMLB-'.$value, chr(hex $value),
'mlb.2' );
  }

It's obviously this call; it's the only place where the string getMLB-
shows up; the intent being that the whole thing is replaced with the
icon. For some reason, the lookup isn't occurring and you simply get
the getMLB-39 reference, which if you go back and look at the table
you had us change for the D-backs you'll sure enough see Padres in
slot 39. Wonder why the reference to the icon isn't being made, though.

Another detail is that *both* teams will always exhibit this issue, or
neither will. You won't get one team with an icon and another with the
bogus text.

Yeah -- restarting LMS helps. But then it comes back. Maybe that
coming back is from a bad load at LMS start time, and an immediate
restart might clear it up. I'll play with it when it happens again to

get it to work simply replace the subroutines sub getmlb and sub

correctly select the Diamondbacks from the SDT settings page.

When I do so, I get:

This is the call that's blowing up:

my $perldata = from_json($MLB_json);

I'm running on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and LMS 7.9.

So I literally did what it said, and changed the call to decode_json.
Worked!

One last thing. I have not selected the Diamondbacks as one of my
teams, though my home team (the Padres) is playing them tonight. The
icon for the Padres shows up, but not for the D-backs. Is that a side
effect of your settings.pm change (which I did not take time to
implement)?

Thanks again for the heavy lifting here!

Sending requests to the same URL gives you updated scores for some
period of time, but it does expire.

Could this be to prevent exactly what we're trying to do? Use the same

3. A nit to pick on wind speed: kt/hr is incorrect as a unit. knots
themselves are Nautical miles per hour. So the unit should just say
knots or kt without the trailing /hr.

Cool thanks; I played around with them and I still like the local ones
best (for the Radio anyway). Also, a nit that at this point is probably
not worth fixing unless it's trivial: if you select the WU icons, some
of them are nighttime and others are daytime. The WU web pages do
change accordingly with the time of day. It would be good (again using
the Radio as an example) to use an appropriate daytime or nighttime icon
for the *current* conditions (the bigger icon on the radio) and only the
daytime ones for the subsequent forecast periods, which refer to
next-day and day-after forecasts.

But that's too much work, and already we're at the level of Greg's code
(if not beyond) before Weather.com borked, so we're good.

Awesome.

For reference, I've completely removed any old version of the plugin

Bingo; exactly the same symptoms. For some reason, it's not reading the

Indeed it's there, and can confirm that the Radio is using the Sunny
icon. I don't know why the SB2 is using the correct (partly cloudy)
one, but the two devices are definitely displaying different icons.
Would the Radio be displaying the forecasted sky conditions rather
than current? Or vice-versa with the SB2?

The two smaller icons on the Radio, (which both now indicate rain) seem
to be correct for future forecast periods.

Ok, here's what I've seemed to deduce regarding the icons on the various
devices. The SB2 seems to be using the *forecast* sky conditions, and
the Radio seems to be using *observed* conditions. This is borne out by
visiting the actual website for the WU station I'm using, which shows
Clear for the current conditions (it's not) and Overcast for the
today part of the forecast. Is that what's in the code?

Make that (at least) a party of 2. The upshot is we all want the old
behavior back, i.e. a period-aware weather *forecast* shown at all times

current conditions. The current behavior is particularly challenging
for me as I use a universal remote, a Harmony 1, which is activity
aware. So, when I'm watching TV (or, more often, when the AV system is

OK, after reading back a bit on this thread, I see Greg posted:

To match with weather.com's new way of presenting data 1/2 of the day
there will be a 'TODAY' and the other half will be 'OBSERVED TODAY'.
Observed today represents the overall conditions that have occurred
today as well as what the observed high was. Hit up/down on the remote

As I mentioned, the Radio shows what I want -- which is the forecast for

many. Squeezelite seems like a true superset though; great work!

June Gloom. When SDT broke, the *only* way I knew was because MLB
broke. Not the weather. My squeezebox was stuck on Cloudy, 62

appearing that I realized it was broken -- because that's what the
weather had been, pretty much day and night, for about 5 days in row

I don't use this data in any of my squeezebox configs, but I went

Just restarted squeezeboxserver after shutting my server down for three
days, because I don't have A/C here in San Diego and we've just been
through a 108 degree heat wave. Lo and behold when I restarted the
ballgame stuff works fine (even though the Padres lost tonight and are
all but out of it), but I get a whole slew of errors in the log:

Unable to parse weather.com data

at least 20 times. No data at all gets retrieved for any of the
weather fields -- temp, precip, etc.

I'm using zip code 92009. Does anyone know if weather.com changed again
in the last few days?

Lastly, there's been a lot of patches posted for various bugs -- NFL
breaking MLB in-progress scores, college football for this season, NHL,
etc. Greg, are you planning an update that incorporates all of these
patches?

I found that zeroing out off-season sports (which may have a URL that
is dead/wrong in the off-season) fixes this. The reason is that Greg
put in a max fail counter, and when that's reached SDT will no longer
ask for updates. Given that logic, the query for a game in progress
must be different than the scheduled time query for an upcoming game,
otherwise scheduled games wouldn't show up either.

So, I got rid of the Chargers and Illini college football entries in
my SDT settings and all is now good with baseball :-)

If you stop/start SBS in the middle of the game, the score reports --
so it's not a parsing issue. SDT simply doesn't seem to generate a
query to ESPN on its regular (5-min) update cycle when the game is in
progress.

The only thing that updates the MLB info is a new scheduled game.

2010-03-22 Thread mbonsack

My MLB parsing seems to have settled down, but now the single line
forecast display (e.g. today: sunny) now seems like it is displaying
one period in the future (at least in my area code 92067) than it was
previously. So, if you go to weather.com and put in a zip code, SDT is
now displaying the middle forecast period on the 36-hour panel as
opposed to the most current (left) one. So, for instance, in the
morning I used to get the forecast for today. Now I get the forecast
for tonight in the morning, and tomorrow in the afternoon/evening on
any given day.

This happened with a recent upgrade to version 15. Is there anything
that has changed between 14 and 15 to cause this?

Thanks, -mark
