Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2022-11-27 Thread fsoares

My iMac M1 is running LMS 8.3.1.
I use Duet, Radio and Touch.
SDT shows and runs in the "Extras" menu.
My Custom Clock version is 2.12.140.
Is there a way to put SDT to work as a screensaver (in Custom Clock?),
as I remember doing some years back?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2021-10-06 Thread BartS

I had two Radios and have one Duet displaying a Custom Clock screensaver
with SDT weather data.

Somewhere in the past weeks the custom screensavers are not displayed
anymore on the Radios and I don't see the Custom Clock Settings menu
entry anymore under the Screensavers menu tree.
The Custom Clock helper applet is installed on the Radios, I
re-installed it and it is listed in the Advanced/Squeezebox
Information/Plug-in modules.
On the Duet things are working fine.

It is probably user error , a setting I forgot? Could someone
point me in the right direction?

Thanks, Bart

In custom clock helper you have to do style export , and this text file
you have to open in a text editor. There you will see size and position,
and these numbers you’ll have to recalculate.
If you use Celsius, not Fahrenheit just go ahead and try my attached
screen and then you do style import and paste the text into the field in
custom clock helper. I think you might like it. Otherwise as I said,
recalculation of sizes and positions.
By the way, you can use a JSON formater in your browser, and then it is
sorted in a nicer way.
You can find the json formator when you google it.

I'm not following what you mean when you say modify the screen
accordingly. Is there somewhere you tell the software the size of the
screen. I thought in Custom Clock Helper when you put in the "Model"
field "Jivelite800x480" you were essentially telling the program what
size screen you had.

I'm a little familiar with HTML and this doesn't seem to work the same

I had a similar problem, I wanted to use my custom made screen to use it
on a 7 inch raspberry.
I justed resized and moved the icons and texts in relation to the screen
difference. I did this with a text editor by first exporting the clock,
modifying it in the text editor and then re-importing it in custom clock
helper.
Your new screen is 800 horizontal pixels, your old one was 480, so
horizontal currently 1.66 times bigger.
Vertical 480 versus 272, so 1.76 times bigger.
So you have to modify your screen accordingly.
I know it’s a big pain in the butt. But it’s a once in a lifetime thing
I hope.
Maybe you can just ask if someone is willing to share his screen with
you, maybe there are some custom clock screens for 7 inch or 5 inch
already?

I'm using RPI 4 and pCP 7.0 with Jivelite and a 5" touch screen. I'm
using Custom Clock as a screen saver when the player is off. I'm using
the pre-canned "SDT Weather Farenheit".

Is there a way to center the whole thing on my display. I'd be happy to
just move it down, but ideally I would like to move it to the right a
little bit too.

I have zero programming skills so I'm hoping for instructions. I realize
it may be a big ask.

2021-02-03 Thread Berns

Hi,

I'm a long time user of SDT and a proud owner of some booms, a joggler
and a SB2.
These are running from a windows machine and the ripped music is stored
elsewhere on the home network.

I was running LMS 7.3 for a long time and got back in touch with the
forum as I wanted to introduce Custom Clock Applet and Custom Clock
Helper combination on the O2 jogglers.
With a background check I moved to the most recent version of:
LMS 8.1.1
CCH 2.11.94
And of course SDT 5.11.11

On the joggler Custom Clock applet is 2.12.140

Thanks to many people on the forum, a nice screensaver is now running a
clock and weather forecast on the joggler. (When playing music, the
screen also features an analog VU meter, spectrum analyser, now playing
information including album cover or radio station logo, artist and
song.

This would not be possible if it weren't for people like Ralphy, Erland,
GoCubs, BoomX2 and many others.

commercial radio device before and we never used its remote. Since
adding an IR remote to pcp looks pretty easy maybe I will try it.
Nevertheless, it would be annoying if I have to walk through kitchen for
the remote to get rid of a stuck screen because the hardware buttons
have no effect.

BTW, is customclock applet maintained by anyone?

I recommend it for you, it solves the stuck issue indeed. I know because
I use a Pi and Flirc with a original Transporter- or Touch-remote for
quite a long time. Also „classical“ radios can be operated with a remote
since decades. People like it to change the loudness or the station
without having to leave their sofa and walk through room to their radio.
That‘s why they invented the IR-remote which was a real success
instantly. And that is why the original Touch was sold with a remote
also.

But do as you like, no one forces you to use a remote.

For me it is not an option. I definitely want a classical radio device
with hardware buttons. And I am happy with how they works now.
Neither think a LIRC remote would solve the above mentioned customclock

I have physical buttons and rotary encoders and they have no effect on

I had the same, but I have to say it was on the system where I have only
the touch screen for operation, no physical buttons. Don't know whether
physical buttons have an influence in that situation. Anway, my
conclusion was that I need the "standard" now playing screen for
operation (play, pause, back to menu, show playlist, etc.). Therefore I
did not replace it.

custom clock style is set as replacement of Now playing screen then it
gets activated but not possible to exit and go back to menu. It remains
on the screen whatever I do. Only recovery is system reboot.
Is it a known issue? Is there workaround?

For me, downgrading with the update script did not work for
piCorePlayer. Once I was at LMS 8.0.0, the script said I had the newest
version and nothing was to do. Would be happy to get a hint how to
downgrade.

Download the plugin (zip-file) from
https://github.com/erland/lms-customclockhelper.
Then find the manual installed plugins folder:

LMS/Settings/Information/Plugin Folders

There are (in my setup) three listed folders, you have to take the one
without /Cache/ in the path. In my piCorePlayer setup, it is
/usr/local/slimserver/Plugins.

Copy the zip file into this folder. Could be that you have to create the
folder first. Then unzip it, there should be a subfolder, named as the
Plugin, and in these subfolder several files, with one Plugin.pm file.

If you then restart LMS, the plugin should get installed. (Attention:
for piCorePlayer, you have to make sure that this /Plugins folder is
stored permanently by adding it to the filetool.lst and doing a backup).

I have installed SuperDateTime-plugin. Unfortunately, it does not have

If you have LMS8, Custom Clock Helper plugin does not appear, I think
because it was not set to be compatible in the code, although it is. I
installed Custom CLock Helper manually. Or you could revert to 7.9.x,
then it appears in the plugin list, then install, and upgrade again to
LMS8.

On the LMS settings/plugin page I can see many 3rd party apps but not
the custom clock. It is neither visible among Erland's plugins after
installing his repository
http://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml

Anyway, on Jivelite main menu in Settings/Advanced/Applet installer, the
custom clock seems to be installed. However, when I go into
Extras/Custom clock menu the -No style configured- text is visible.

The guide states the config menu is under "Settings/Screen/Custom
Clock". Actually, it is under "Settings/Screen/Screensavers/Custom Clock
Settings". When I select any profile a -fetching clock style- text can
be seen with a spin rotating endless.

I guess something is still missing on the server side.

Thanks for your response.

The guide states "Squeezebox Server either check the "Show all 3rd party
plugins" checkbox" which checkbox is not available anymore AFAIK.
Therefore "manually configure my repository" is needed. The list of
repositories on
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezebox_Server_repositories is
a big list and no hint which one to install. The URLs mathcing the
author names (Erland) does not work.
After finding the working URLs, only a couple of plugins appear on the

Maybe I am on a totally wrong path as I would like to have a screensaver

The first post is outdated just like the linked installation guide in

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2020-08-23 Thread schup011

I am trying again: I have been asking this before. Maybe somebody jumps
in and knows the solution:

I am trying to build a custom clock as "Now Playing" screensaver. I
would like to have the title broken into three lines, but I can only see
the first line, if I turn the "animate" attribute on, I see the rest of
an underlying second line, but I don't succeed in putting lines beneath
each other.

So far, I am using this item definition:

Code:

{"itemtype":"tracktext","line2fontsize":"","align":"left","fontsize":"22","fontfile":"","width":"320","visibilitygroup":"","order":"","visibilitytime":"","posy":"107","linelength":"320","line1fontsize":"","line1height":"40","line2height":"40","line3height":"40","posx":"5","lineheight":"40","visibilityorder":"","fonturl":"","text":"TITLE","margin":"20","color":"lightgray","line3fontsize":"","scrolling":"false","animate":"false"},

Is there anybody who has done something like that?

Examples would be appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Hi,

finally I managed RSS Text Feed to show some parameters of my heater on
the squeezebox touch screen.
I also included a time stamp information. Therefore I recognized that
the screen is updated automatically only every full hour and every half
hour unless the data field "interval" is filled with "5".

Could anybody please explain how to set the interval for refreshing the
screen to 5 minutes?
What is the data field "refreshinterval" for?

Is there any explanation on what all the fields for the itemtype rsstext
are for? ("noofrows" and others)
The value for the field "interval" - does it mean minutes or seconds or
something else ...?

Thanks in advance!

OK, it took me only about 6h to find out that every time I enter a
syntax error into Custom Clock Helper RSS Text Feed forms I have to
reboot the Squeezebox touch.

In betweentime I succeeded in displaying %title and %description on the
screen. :o

I failed in trying to display also other RSS parametes like %copyright,
%language. Is this not implemented?

Can anyone help?

I'm running LMS on a Synology NAS, no packet downgrade possible there.
I've tried to manually install the Custom Clock helper via SSH, this
worked but a message shows up "Plugin Custom Clock Helper updated,
restart". With the next restart the helper vanished from LMS.

ANY IDEAS? I really do not want to reinstall the whole LMS in 7.9 and
the upgrade to 8 ...

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2020-06-21 Thread boxer

With the help of BoomX2 I finally succeeded in displaying RSS Feed Text
on my Squeezebox touch.

My intention is to display own data on the screen like pool temperature,
current household electricity consumption, operating parameters of the
heating, etc.

My idea is to have an xml file on my NAS which is fed automatically with
my data.
RSS Feed Text within Custom Clock Applet should read out the file in
order to display the information on the Squeezebox screen.

At the moment I need some information on how should the structure of the
xml file be
and which parameters have to be used within Custom Clock Helper for the
right setup.
Is there any manual für the parameter setup? I learned that the field
format can be filled with %title and %description. Are there some more
options?

Does the entry in the field url always have to start with http:// ?
I already learned from BoomX2 that https:// is not possible.
But can I also use some local address like
\\192.168.xxx.xxx\RSS\Mydata.xml ?

Did anybody do something like this before?
Can somebody provide me with a working example as a Custom Clock Helper
export file?

Thank you in advance!

Are you shure your Version of max2play supports SDT?
I remember that older Versions did not, so I changed to pCP a long time

Also I am not sure if LMS 8.0 can downloadload this plugin, there are
quite a lot that do not load at the moment. Check the plugins-folder.

Why: If ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST are empty, LMS always generates a "Kein

Hello,

sorry to bring up this really old thread - I have searched through a lot
of posts and could not find anything else.

I am trying to build a custom clock as "Now Playing" screensaver. I
would like to have the title broken into three lines. And it does not
work as described above. I can only see the first line, if I turn the
"animate" attribute on, I see the rest of an underlying second line, but
I don't succeed in putting lines beneath each other.

So far, I am using this item definition:

Code:

{"itemtype":"tracktext","line2fontsize":"","align":"left","fontsize":"22","fontfile":"","width":"320","visibilitygroup":"","order":"","visibilitytime":"","posy":"107","linelength":"320","line1fontsize":"","line1height":"40","line2height":"40","line3height":"40","posx":"5","lineheight":"40","visibilityorder":"","fonturl":"","text":"TITLE","margin":"20","color":"lightgray","line3fontsize":"","scrolling":"false","animate":"false"},

Is there anybody who has done something like that?

Examples would be highly appreciated! Thanks a lot.

2 nice little screens for the Radio with clock, weather information,
spectrummeter and more goodies.

SDT Weather Clock is an off-screen, and SDT Playing Clock what it says.

Import them with CustomClockHelper and choose them in CustomClock on
your Radio.
To use all features put unzipped-folder "Radio" with the images into
"applets/CustomCLock/" as described in post#699.

You also might want to replace the standard playing screen with mine.
Use it the appropiate menü within CustomClock on your Radio at settings.

Have fun with customizing the screens to your needs.

On longer term most public sites are probably only going to offer https

Is there a way to determine what the base path is, where the custom
clock applet searches for files? I use a 'bootable USB version of
jivelite' (http://www.cjh.me.uk/joggler/alpha04/) for a joggler device,
by chill. And I see these directories:

opt\jivelite\share\jive\applets(there is no folder for custom clock
applet here)
opt\jivelite\share\jive\jive (this is where the JiveMain.lua and
System.lua files are located)
root\.jivelite\userpath (this is where I found the
"\applets\CustomClock" folder, it was not present in
opt\jivelite\share\jive)
root\.jivelite\userpath\settings (this is where the CustomClock.lua
file is located)

I have placed my image (8Jxpski.png) in all of these directories and use
"8Jxpski.png" (and "applets\8Jxpski.png" for the case of
"opt\jivelite\share\jive") in the url field of custom clock helper
plugin with the item time "timeicon", but it doesn't display the image.

Thanks, but doesn't github use https? or maybe there is a way to set it
up somehow for http instead of https

Anyway, I was hoping to store my files locally, but was not able to copy
them to Jivelite's usb drive yet. I'm using a 'bootable USB version of
jivelite' (http://www.cjh.me.uk/joggler/alpha04/) for a joggler device,
by chill.
The USB uses ext2 filesystem and I think I could access and write to it
from my android device earlier, but can't anymore. Also tried on windows
10 with Ext2 File System Driver, but even though windows explorer seems
to copy the file to the drive, later after removing and reinserting the
USB, it doesn't show the new files anymore, so it probably fails to
write the files. Will try with a portable linux distribution when I have
the time. But I would be grateful if anyone was in a similar situation
and has come up with a solution, and could help me end my struggles
there..

Thank you for the responses. It occured to me also, that https might be
a problem, but I couldn't find an image hosting site, that wouldn't use
https, quickly. Will have to look further.

Another approach would be to save the image locally, in the Jivelite's
filesystem, for example. Is that supported, and if it is, can someone
help me out on where the files should be stored, or how to input the
local file location to the "url" field?

https does not work in CCH / SDT.
I tried it for some servers and failed. Look for a http-server and use
it. They seem to be getting rare, most use https nowadays.

Not sure if this is the problem but try to refer to the image with http
instead of https, if I remember correctly https wasn’t supported in all
parts of SqueezeOS

Hi,
I'm really interested in the timeicon item type. Is it still supported?
I'm trying to make a clock that displays 2 hours ahead of the time it
reads from the LMS (because I can't find the way to alter the time on
the LMS, which is installed on a qnap nas).

So I created this 'image' (https://i.imgur.com/8Jxpski.png) and used it
in the "url" field, together with %H in the "text" field and 116 in the
"width" field. But the image is not displayed. Does anyone see what I'm
doing wrong? I'd really like to use this feature.

Ok, my host computer is a qnap nas. In it's administration webpage the
time matches the timezone I actually live in (GMT+2). But custom clock
shows the gmt time. Though, your post may encourage me to manually
change the time on the nas, to see if that corresponds to custom clock
time, thanks.

Thanks. This brings me to the next question - can we set the time
manually (or the timezone) in LMS settings?

I think it could have come up in the initial settings right after the

I think it comes from LMS. My Touch doesn't seem to keep its own

I use "%H:%M" without the one. I am not sure where it gets the time but
appears on my touch correct for my local time EST

I use the "%H1:%M" variables, but it displays GMT time. Where does the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2019-09-28 Thread phred

I'm looking for a little help with troubleshooting a custom clock
screensaver that was displaying and now isn't. LMS is on a Windows 10
box and I have a few custom clocks set up and assigned slots. Using a
Radio, I see the screensaver in question and it is selected for Now
Playing. But it doesn't display. Nor do any of the stock screensavers
for Now Playing. When I set the saver I want to use for Now Playing as
the Off screensaver, it displays properly. When I set the saver I use
for Off as the Now Playing saver, it doesn't display. Nothing will
display as a Now Playing saver except for the default. So it appears my
custom clock files are good and the issue is with Now Playing.

Ideas? Suggestions? Fixes?

Thanks.

The correct url in your *clock style* has to be
*applets/CustomClock/my_icons/FILENAME.png*, so just lose the part

looks like my error was to first login in with ssh and then apply the
scp command . the correct usage was

Code:

scp -o KexAlgorithms=+diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 -c aes256-cbc
/path/to/file username@IPLAN:/path/to/destination

and not login to ssh

I now have the progress.png image in the

appearing on the touch. I made another change(unrelated) that does
appear on the touch. PasTim I greatly appreciate the help you offered

I did try to squeeze more in, but found I had to use smaller fonts and
separate lines otherwise it took an age for all the long text to scroll
round. The 'now playing' line has some stuff you may not have or want
(year, samplezize etc). The disc (if present) and track should precede
the album name.

Each to their own. I only intended to provide a demo of one way things
could be done, fully expecting others to want to do things (very)
differently:)

The configuration files on linux are in
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/plugin. For CustomClock that's
customclockhelper.prefs . The Settings, Advanced web page for Custom
Clock Helper lets you export and import new screen designs. I would
advise that you use that rather than editing the prefs file.

So I eventually ended up with these screens (Touch + Radio):

27849

27850

I think on the Touch there's still enough space to add lines for
composer, conductor or band/orchestra if you things up a bit. You could
also add the disc number/count in brackets right next to the track
number/count if you need that. Myself, I could probably do without the
genre, I usually know that. And as for very long tags, LMS/Touch will
scroll through those alternately, that's good enough for me.

@peace_of_mind
Do you mean the clock styles? You have to install the CustomClockHelper
Plugin in your LMS settings. Then you can import/create styles in your
LMS Settings (Advanced > CustomClockHelper):
