Jeff,
I came across these selection of tests by Kent University and they would seem
to fit the bill. I have page scraped the example ones and use them as the basis
for evaluation of the applicants, that is unless anyone else has any better
ideas. It really is difficult to devise tests that are

When I look at what kept me in the game all of the years I think of a
number of things: desire, solving puzzles and sticking to it even when

That strikes me as very apt!! I got into programming when I did a course in
the RAF in 1976 which involved a lot of data analysis for which we were
provided with an HP programmable desktop calculator between 23 of us. At
the same time we were being taught BASIC where we had to write out the code
personally I think desire is more important than any certification

All were pointed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual FoxPro\...

I've always heard (and believed) that to be a good programmer, you need
to be intelligent and lazy.
Lazy enough to be willing to spend 8 hours coding something that will
get you out of 15 minutes of work, and intelligent enough to be able to
make the explanation simple enough for the computer
Apologies for the double post - I clicked on Reply To All instead of Reply.

Dave,
You're right about the odd connection between programming and music. I'm not
musical myself, but when I started programming (in 1958) I remember being
struck by the number of people in my class who were musicians. And I've seen
it many other times over the years.
I'm not a big fan of
amen, when I used to select people for a team, my test was this:
Build me a menu
Build me a A,C,D screen.
If they had the basics, they were hired.
Were there better qualified ones out there?
Possibly, but that person needed a job at that time and that is something I
think a lot of us forget
Just thinking about this, and you might take a look at the Environment
variables. Lots of use gets made of %system%, %temp%, and the like. My win
8.1 doesn't have any names pointing to C:\Program Files (x86), but that doesn't
say nobody ever did that.
If there was a 'VFPpath' variable

New Host will be the same.
I want to run the same Guest on my laptop.
Which folder(s) do I copy on the LAN?
Which Folder(s) do I burn to a disc -- CD or DVD?
When burning, do I merely copy or make an ISO?
Mike,
If you're still looking for a solution, check out SrchCombo.vcx from Anil
