you are talking about SDT-3 format. i'm making SDT-4 format which is
vetor only and uses compose32.exe to compily the library
that should do it.

so i will tackle the orcad library the same way. the translateor is then
a piece of cake.
once that done i might tackle the schematic formats to construct a
protel 'viewer'

Apparently attachments get chopped off in the newsgroup.
i sent the file to darren moore who will post in on yahoo grousp site.
in progress for today : adding a file browser , fixing the arc problem ,
startig the orcad ouptut generator. ( i got some specs but incomplete)
keep in mind that t
send me one of those altera txt files . i'll write you a a generator.

yes yes yes . my protel reader works ( including a viewer. ) i spent 2
hours coding it.
now i want to spit out orced files

so far i have a program that can sucessfully read the protel schematic
libraries , browse them and display them on the screen. i'm still
tinkering with polygons as orcad doesn't know those.
still to be done arcs and rounded rectangles.
basically all pins , labels , lines and rectangles show up
okay . who got the format specs . i'll write this thing .
i am willing to shar eout the convertro on the forum here for free.

well maybe some of the pespi (orcad ) drinkers might forget about
putting it in their mouth and discover a whole new taste that they
actually might like . Maybe even this way : orcad based comapny has a
group of protel designer that imports the orcad files , wraps em up and
spits em back out t
okay . anyone out there that has a solution ?.
we are getting desperate. the company might force us to abandon protel
altogether and move to orcad schematic and layout. and frankly i don't
want to do that ( not after 10 years )
I tried a couple of tyhings but i'm always stuck with missing parts
well i have had good success using the SDT files. on the first try all
wires , ports and nets come up correclty.
only part that is missing are the symbols themselves.
so if there were a way to translate my protel ibrary to orced. this
woudl be a one step conversion : save as sdt , open in orcad

woehahahahaha good one . didn't realise it . Yes it is confiusing isn't it ?
Well we used to be alcatel microelectronics and were sold 2 months ago
to ST microelectronics. We still use alcatel ,and alcatel

i stand corrected. yep it slipped my mind that under win2k you indeed
have 3 chunks but , so under 2k you indeed have some more leeway but the
thing still stands : gone is gone , no matter how many gigs of ram you
have in the box.
thanks for spotting this one.

I can't do it . The moment you click on
