Unfortunately, driver problems often only show up in one or two programs,
especially those programs that stress the driver. Schematic & PCB output
(print & display) is certainly graphically intensive compared to your
average Windows program. Similarly, if you talk to a PC-gamer, they can

ATI is the problem here since I also get application crashes when I try to

As has been mentioned, many of us have found problems using ATI graphics
cards. In one case, quite some time ago, I tracked down a particular
failure and found that ATI was aware of the problem and had no plans to fix
it.
I don't believe it! Its stopped working again.

Hi Guys
I have bad problems like this due to the interaction with a 42" HP
Designjet800 Network Plotter. I fix it by having protel installed on the
print server and opening the database for plotting only from that server.
After I'm done plotting, I MUST open the Protel database on this server and

I usually find that if Protel has got into this sort of routine, then it's
time to re-boot the PC (often needing power-cycling, just to make sure).
The same applies with Windows 2000, although it's
troublemaker (hopefully not your default
printer).

Hello all,
Can somebody help me with this one?
Since about half way through today, every time I try to print something
from Protel, I get a dialog box saying that Protel has performed an illegal
operation, and that the program will be shut down.
I have tried restarting the program, but I cann
