Hello all,
I am looking for specific experiences on certain bits of hardware - throw
in you usual suggestions if you like but I am really interested in these
questions:
1) Dennis S. and others - did you ever sort out the Matrox G550 issue you
had? I know the G550 has pretty poor 3D performan
Ian,
I've been using a ViewSonic P815 (~20") for more than four years now at
1600x1200 and it's as sharp as the day I bought it (USA). But it does
require a good video card. I don't know about their current offerings.

Step #1, video card:
If you want dual head, & you want a perfect match, you will need to chose a video
card where both video outputs are the same.
If you have a digital flat panel interface, make sure both outputs are digital. Never
go for half & half, then place a digital -
analog adapter

Oh boy, this is a delicate subject.
#1, Size. From your letter, I'll bet you want at least 21 inch. I've had more
experience with the monitors which have the damper

I'm using 2 17" LCD's at 1280x1024 each, with a dual head card. I wouldn't
go back to a CRT . 17" LCd's can be had for little money now, paid $1000 for
both months ago. All things considered, the 2 lcd's give me more viewing
area for the money, more resolution , take less desk space and are sharpe
Careful, Brian might call your LCDs junk as he did mine a few months ago. I
happen to agree with you Matt. I purchased two brands of 17" LCD monitors:
Sylvania (which is Princeton I believe) and Envision and they booth are
razor sharp. The color gradation is nowhere near a tube, but I don't care.
Never said that the LCDs are junk. They have come a long way since their beginnings.
This is why I recommend taking a look here:
It's native resolution is 1600x1200.
