Dear Members of the QUAD-List,
Last week, our radio show reported a real life situation regarding a blind
quadriplegic who later died. He was critically ill in a CCU in Phoenix,
Arizona, and was a Medicaid patient. The doctors decided that it was
NOT medically necessary to continue his care
I too am excited at the thought that thru the combine efforts of many
people on the Quad-List, justice will prevail. I'm actually surprised that
Jim Lubin's name wasn't included in the celebrities who use the services of that

Even with the Botox, muscle
relaxers, neurotin, and others I still have muscle spasms. They are
worse after I have been up in my chair all day and I am getting back in my
bed. I always take meds before getting back in bed because I know when I
start being turned the spasms will begin.
Why would you need to remove your footrests if you're doing a transfer
from the side?

My name is Jason Thurston, I am a 5/6 incomplete. I am able to transfer from

I see there has been talk of mattresses. I might be needing
one soon, and I hope a new bed too. I tried a few air motion mattresses, but
found them noisy and uncomfortable. I have always just used a 6in foam pad,
with a 18x18in square cut out of the butt area, with a jell pad put in there.

If you're not walking, you have osteoporosis. This article suggests
most of the damage was done before we left rehab.

Well I want to share my progress in OT/PT. I got pants unbuttoned for the 1st time in 7+ years on Tuesday... boy was it frustrating LOL... Ive been working on it with the tool they let me have... I timed myself tonight so I could be aware of my body and when the urge to go comes. It took 38
You absolutely correct about the Roho
cushion. To overcome that problem, you just have to live chair butt a
little higher instead of sliding. I also slide into an electric
wheelchair. Without obstruction from the armrests I can slide right in
without having to angle the chair.

I keep the foot rests on because it helps with
my balancing and I don't have to lift my legs from the floor to the
bed.

If you ask me roho cushions are a joke. You cant transfer off of them because you sink in like a waterbed. They also pop easily , and you get this all for 400.00, what a deal, lol. Ive used a J2 gel for 8 years and never had a sore problem. The cushion is great because is has a solid front to
I am totally independent transferring in and

I got a Temperpedic queen size adjustable bed, has a wireless remote to operate the legs and head , even had vibrating modes. The bed is greatits firm enough to transfer, but gives you plenty of pressure relief. I sleep on my stomach to give my butt a vbreak at night , and even with my knees
