After deleting from the database you would need to restart again. But
you would also have to delete the other disks from the same pool and
also the tapes which were configured in the pool. This is because the
pool is no longer usable.
When the master disk is lost, the entire pool is unable.

The warnings you mention are trivial and can be ignored.
The reason you could only create 20 cartridges is because the VTL was
configured with 20 slots. You can change the slot count by
/quadstorvtl/bin/vtconfig -m -v -s
Then restart

In the diagnostic logs show that the 20TB disk /dev/sdb has been detected.
