Also to add, I've sold complete bikes without ever bumping the thread
before albeit it took a month or so. I think most people are savvy enough
they will use the search function if they really want a certain bike or
frame.

Jim,
I think think those scenarios are a bit cumbersome to those who read it in
list form. I'm fine if price reductions are a way to get posts a refresh,
but just adding the word "BUMP" every week pushes more interesting threads
further down the list and I've missed my fair share. Price reduct
No. There are literally people who post the word "BUMP" as a comment to
their original post when they've had no activity (usually bike/frame/bigger
dollar posts).
Updating as things sell is fine - actually better than fine, in my book.

I've been a member for about 4 years and If I remember correctly there used to

Maybe those are being posted on social media now days.
I enjoy seeing members new builds and how they configure their bikes and
members product reviews.

A bump is when the thing doesn't sell so you put another plug in for it. I
recently had a bike that I bumped about once a week for a few weeks then gave
up, which I think is what Jim is looking for: Post it, give it 2 or 3 weekly
shots, then come up with a new plan like Craigslist or whatever if
My thoughts are . I appreciate this group very much .
As for "moderation" in general ... "enjoy a few drinks of good cheer in
spirited moderation, but don't take advantage of the bartender by gettin'
drunk on it and expecting the bartender or anyone else to clean up your
mess. "
Is a "bump" the same as a "Here's what's left / price reduction" reply to
your own original FS post?
Is that even good form? ('cause I do that)

Ha! Thank you all for taking some time to give some feedback. I am very

I appreciate the FS posts because I've benefited greatly mostly as a buyer,

I think it is still a healthy mix and enjoy the FS and regular posts. The
FS posts have increased but there's still a lot of great other non-FS type

Jim,
Good timing for me as i just sold a bunch of things. Part of what makes
selling things on this group different is that most people are selling
things that they genuinely like but no longer use or were not quite right
for them. Its pretty curated when you compare to other groups as a lot

I think separate groups would end up with all of them having very little
traffic. I like all the FS/WTB/trade posts, it just bugs me when we get spammed
by people who've never contributed to a conversation. Which doesn't really
happen all that often.

I wonder if a general “RBW/iBOB Trading Post” group would be worthwhile.
Separate list. Separate email settings. Separate moderators. Then Jim could
lock this down to only discussion.

I tend to lurk more than post, but when i do, I try to temper FS posts with

I love the for sale posts. It's like window shopping, or actual shopping.
